Having a cell isn't a priority for me. I use mine to talk to my son...when picking him up from school, sports practice....it make things a lot easier....plus talking to my sis long distance...is cheap...I use my phone the most with her.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

I mainly carry a cell phone for the purpose of texting my daughters. My plan is just for talking and texting, and my phone is a flip phone.

If you wouldn't mind responding, could you tell me who your provider is for your $60 plan?

We have ATT and haven't heard of that plan at all. I would not be against switching.

hi noel......i am not terrier, but if you look online at sprint.com you can find their $60 plans that include everything. they will even pay your early termination fee if you have one with a different provider. i currently use ATT, but this sounds like a good deal.

For many people a cell phone is their only phone.....in this day and age - YES - a phone is a necessity whether it be a landline or cell phone.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

Yes, having a cell phone is a priority. I do not have a landline. My Sister that I'm very close to, lives on the other side of the State. No long distance charges, share a family plan, so, we're not using minutes. I have an iPhone 5s, want and plan to get, the 6plus, soon. Love the options and convenience of a smart phone. If you truly don't want or need current technology, that's a personal choice. However, I don't understand people who are Almost aggressively proud of it? As for anyone else's choices, it really is none of our business. It they're making bad choices, they may get a hard wake up call, but it's their life.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

I am not saying people shouldn't have cell phones and shouldn't enjoy them.

I am like shorty2u though. I think in many instances, people really can't afford these more expensive phones and plans, but they go ahead and get them any way. They do it because they want to fit in and have the latest gadget. Well, that's all well and good, if you CAN afford it and it fits in your budget. If so, then more power to ya! But --- if you are suffering financially because you can't meet your obligations --- pay your heating bill, buy food, etc., then something is wrong. You do need to prioritize. I have a relative who is the same way. She never has any money, is always depending on her parents and asking them to pay this, that an the other for her. But --- she always has the latest phone.

You can still have a cell phone to use for emergencies and/or convenience, but you can make more reasonable choices.

DH & I have old trac phones and we put minutes on them as needed. Which turns out to be like $20 every 3 monthss. Would I like to have a better phone? I wouldn't mind it if I had more expendable cash, but it's not necessary. And I am truthfully not one of those people who talks much on the phone any way.

It's really become a status thing in many instances.

Re: Is having a cellphone a top priority for you?

Do you mean a cell phone or a smart phone? There is a difference. I own a real cell phone. It only makes calls. I bought it as a safety measure. I work full time. And I need it anytime I am alone...going to and from work.

I would like a smart phone, but it's too expensive. I already pay over $200.00 for land phone, high speed internet and TV with all the trimmings. A smart phone would cost at last an extra $60.00 per month and probably wouldn't even be unlimited. A smart phone uses up batteries very quickly. You have to charge it almost daily. You waste time on it. You rarely use it a phone. You just play on the internet with it.Or endlessly reread your email almost all day long.

I work at a university. All day long the kids play with their smart phone. They don't to pay for it. Their parents do. They walk along campus, bent over the their smart phones. The only time they are not on them, is in class. As soon as is over, they're bent over their phones again. And the cycle goes on and on. They talk and eat bent over their phones.

I know I'm late to the party but unless I'm paying for it, what somebody else has or can afford is none of my business. There are enough things in my own life to deal with that I don't need to be concerned or judgemental about someone else's.

I have Sprint and signed up for that plan!

I too was under the impression that an iphone would be outrageously expensive, but rates have come down a a lot in the last year or two.
