Oh I'm for sure addicted!
If I accidentally leave the house without my phone I will go back and get it. If I'm already too far from home I'll go on without it, but I feel sort of uncomfortable.
I suppose some here will think I'm odd, but I believe there are lots of people who feel as I do. In the past I have been stranded in the middle of the Mojave Desert without any way to call for help, so I think perhaps that has something to do with it. And yes, you can get cell service in the Mojave Desert, depending on your location.

Only for emergencies and texting my kids back when they text me. I NEVER talk on one.

I switched from a Verizon plan to a Tracfone, & love it.
Cell phones aren't a top priority for me, but they are a necessity (for security purposes). I'm never glued to my phone...I couldn't care less.

many people don't have land lines any longer and your friend could very well be one of them. if that's the case, a cellphone isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

I have an old Envy2. They don't even make them, as mine is 5 years old. I have got 2 new batteries in that time. I use it to text the grandkids and kids. I run up texts by the hundreds. Phone calls, not so much. My phone is a flip phone, and the call part is not working. I have to turn the phone on speaker to receive a call, which makes it not good for public use, LOL!

I was going to post the same thing. You need to have a phone in this day and age. If you can't pay your bills, you should have the cheapest phone and plan.

Husband's looking all over the house for his, so I guess it is. It's on silent so it isn't responding to my calls. I enjoy using my phone features such as memo, list, calendar, weather, email is sync'd to cell & FB. I text and use photo gallery.

I mean maybe if i were retired or something, no, but I need mine for business and have been made to realize that in no uncertain terms ..
Lost a sale one day because my phone was dead, and the commission was about $1200- that taught me....

Still have a land line, and I don't even know the phone number of my TracPhone. I only use it to call out on rare occasions. Read somewhere that people check their phones over 200 times a day. Had to wonder how much of that is happening while they are supposed to be working.

I have a basic cellphone for calls and texting and that's good enough for me. For all my internet needs I have a tablet and laptop. And I don't think I need to be connected to the web 24/7. I guess I prefer to spend my money on other things rather than a high phone bill. Some people have really become addicted to their smart phones and it's gotten out of hand....people have gotten fired for being on them instead of working, or like the OP's friend, they neglect their other bills, or even food, but make sure they always have the latest and greatest smart phone....rather sad...
