Wish they had those when I was growing up. I had to wear braces for FIVE long years and it was through high school. Going through some old pictures. One was signed by my older brother "to silver teeth."

I never had braces but didn't know they use these invisaligners on children. I've heard they're not as effective as the old fashioned braces.

I didn't wear braces, but my sister did. All I remember is going along to have them tightened. Hers were off by high school. The only problem about invisaline is you can take them off. My nephew had them and had to wear them longer due to not wearing them all the time. My friend had the same issue with her daughter.

I have said the same thing @rms1954 , I hated the tightening. I swear the orthodontist would be in a bad mood and take it out on me, because I remember my teeth would really ache
and he wasn’t at all gentle when rewiring and twisting and cutting the wires.
It seems like the invisiline would be better ,easier and more comfortable.

Well, lucky me! I had braces from age 12-13, and Invisaligners from age 48-50. My teeth had shifted as an adult and I didn't want dental problems later on in life. I certainly hope I won't need braces again at age 70!

I always had to eat soup for a few days after tightening they hurt so bad. I just saw a commercial and they said usually takes a shorter time and work quicker than braces.

I wore traditional braces for about 9 -12 months as a child due to needing to keep my teeth in place while a few adult teeth grew into place.
Just recently I had to invest in Invisalign due to the pitch of my teeth changing and my bit being 'off' and causing pain. The teeth were actual straight and aligned, just the pitch or angle of the teeth were off. My before and after photos look exactly the same to the untrained eye!
The Invisalign was very painful and made my teeth very sensitive to hot and cold. Taking the trays off to eat, drink or brush was a painful and difficult process.
Interestingly traditional braces are only beneficial to fixing crooked teeth or those with gaps. They are not used for problems like mine.

Hi @Lisa Y I have never worn braces and am in my mid 50s. My teeth were very mildly crooked, but have crowded more with age. I am thinking about geting them fixed. My top front tooth is only slghlty out of line, but my bottom teeth are all misaligned. I haven't been to the orthodontist yet. Would love to hear whether you have any recommendations for me. Thanks!
