I saw a topic talking about this and how you can sign up....just wanted to thank the person(s) who posted about this!

I signed up a few days ago...it finally started working today.  I went online to see what was coming then out to my mailbox and sure enough...my lab order from my doctor wasn't there!  But lo and behold...I had 3 pieces of other peoples mail in my box instead!

At least I now can see what's happening to my missing mail....I have had issues for yrs here with this mailman.  So instead of me trying to locate the other peoples home to put the mail in the correct box I have been putting it all back in my box with flap up.  I am tired of it....I even talked to the delivery supervisor before as this guy has been doing this often ...and with packages that require signature...just saying delivered and then driving off with it.

I have been wondering about a Thank You card that I should have gotten a good while ago from my niece...I just know he put it in someone else's box and they didn't do what I do and return it in their box just tossed it out.

I checked the box that I didn't receive that lab order mail from my doctor...I have no idea how that works....do they look for it? Now I need to call my doctor's office again and ask for another one....unbelievable.

Hi, @tsavorite!    The poster who started a thread about this feature is @World Traveler

and this is the thread (in case you or anyone else wants to see it):

"Snail Mail and Knowing What is Coming to Your Mailbox"

I haven't needed to report an item that was scanned and displayed in my notification email messages, but I'm hoping it generates an investigation for you.    Sorry you're having problems with improperly-delivered mail.   That has to be exasperating and can cause major problems.   Best of luck to you!image.gif

Mine started without me signing up.

I got a post card about a month or 2 ago saying it was starting soon.

I got the email yesterday with my first "photos."

I like not having to rush out there for mail if there's nothing important for me to get.

Thanks @dooBdoo for that link on the thread...that's it!!

I wonder what happens now? anything?? I knew if I signed up the first week on it I'd be reporting missing mail LOL!

I need to do my labwork next week so I have to have that lab order...I will wait until Monday if it's not found I'll have to call and drive out to get another one...it's far and such a PITA that's why they mail it to me...convience and the lab place is right down the street from me.

@tsavorite

We must have the same mailperson!  I'm so sorry for both of us. For years I had no problem.  Then about 2 years ago a new person took over.  I get other people's mail, and I have NO idea where many of my packages go.

I  have the tracker from UPS, but in my area UPS often passes off to USPS for final delivery.  When something goes missing I'm stuck between the two.  "UPS didn't send it, no, your USPS has it, they should have delivered", back and forth I go like a ping pong ball.

Oddly enough, the bills hit my box right on time.

You're welcome, @tsavorite!   You might ask about having labwork, etc., delivered electronically via email and bypass the snail mail route, if you and the medical office are okay with that.   As far as the USPS report, I don't know what happens now.   I think I'd call the local branch that delivers to me, for the first report, and ask them how to follow up on it.

I have found it (and USPS "investigations") largely useless. It doesn't show all your mail, only what they have on hand at daily scanning time. At our house 75% of what's scanned is throw-away junk mail - ALL of that is ALWAYS scanned, lol. Only about 20-25% of our first class mail is ever scanned.

As soon as I signed up for it, my first class mail stopped coming! After a week I went to my local PO to complain and have them investigate. They told me it was not the local delivering POs that scanned but the regional centers.

I had at minimum four pieces of important first class mail I didn't receive (in reality, who knows how many). I checked "did not receive" on all of them. I ended up receiving ONE; never got the others.

The local PO supv told me he would contact my mail person (whom we have never, ever had a single reason to complain about), and check with the regional scanning center, and get back to me within hours to one day. Never heard from him again.

Finally, about 6 weeks on, I seem to be getting most of my mail - as far as I can tell, who really knows. They also stopped even scanning my mail for a week, and I didn't ask them to. The missing mail will never show up. The PO has been zero help.

And for our household at least, what is scanned is junk mail we toss, and most of our first class mail is never scanned.

I'm not doubting you and your experience, OP, just giving my own experience for another POV.

I tried to register at that site.  No matter how outrageous or off the wall I made a user ID, it told me it was already in use.  I gave up.

@tsavoritewhen usps began this new feature I thought finally we will have an efficient post office but sadly that is not the case.  I continue to get mail that belongs to others and still continue to not receive some of mine despite it being scanned first at the post office.  The ability to track it is just a fallacy.  One of my missing pieces was returned to me but by a neighbor not by the mailman and all the other missing pieces never got to me even after I checked marked the box and then phoned afterward as well.
