Thanks for posting. 🇺🇸

It baffles me that so many American citizens don't understand the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Indeed we do have to give thanks.

I was older when I visited Arlington and it takes your breath away.  And many were so young.

Re: In Rememberance...Memorial Day Weekend

I remember WW11, some of the 20+yr. old buddies that used to play old maid cards and other simple card games or board games with me, buddies of my Dad, were killed in WW11.

My Dad was in his 20's when he enlisted.

He was gone for four years, but came home, unlike some of his friends.

My Grandmother who raised me, had a little flag in the window, with one star. Lots of families did that had sons or daughters in the service.  Some with 2 stars, depending on how many in family in the service.rs We had Air Raid practices in school and just at diff. times.

This was in SF.

I still have my Dog tags that we children wore in case we were in school and we got bombed, we could be identified.

I also remember, my Grandma who was not an American Citizen yet, but came from Italy.  She could not go out before Sunrise and had to be in before Sunset.

The war was over when I was eight.

I remember testing her on the questions for getting her  American citizenship, which she passed.

Italians were treated badly, not as bad as the Japanese, but they had restrictions, because Italy sided with Germany.

It was a difficult time in America, but people came together and helped one another.

I wish I could drive to San Bruno, to the National cemetery and visit my Mother's grave, but too old to make that trip. One of my sons will take me in June. I will also go to the Italian cemetery to visit my Grandmothe's grave.

How many in all the wars sacrificed and we have come to today.  Shameful.

Yet I still love America.  Still the best Country.
