OP here....
Have any of you seen the movie..."Taking Chance"...with Kevin Bacon....It is very moving and emotional...I was deeply touched by the care and dignity that our Fallen Heroes receive when returning home, as they most definitely should be honored...I highly recommend the movie.
I have seen it several times and will be watching it again tonight.
Thank you to all for joining me in remembrance!
"Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.
In the end, "Taking Chance" provides a sense that one's end of watch never really ends. The fallen continue to protect and serve by reminding us of our humanity. They remind us of our ability and need to extend compassion and respect to those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and to those who continue to serve."

I am so grateful for all those who have sacrificed and fought for our freedoms. Heroes in every sense of the word, men and women who we should honor and pay tribute to every day. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Yoy are welcome. A lot of us elderly remember. I remember in those days living in SF, how neighbors helped one another, looking after the kids like myself and if someone sick or not enough food, bringing food, I really do.
It was such a better enviorment even with the war going on.
Helping families that lost loved ones with visits and food, and whatever they needed.
My Grandmother dealt in what was called, "The Black Market".
She knew people and could get items, like Choc bars,, and things to send to my Dad and his buddies overseas.
A funny story although I got in trouble.
I was playing Hide and Seek with friends in the house and I hid under the couch. Lo and behold, I found a few boxes of I think it was Hershey's choc. bars. I passed them out to my friends.
This were hidden, so Grandma could send them to my Dad in her care pkg. to him. Thankfully out of three boxes, I only went through one. I remember having butter on the table.
Grandma was one strong women and single. My Grandfather had passed six months before I was born. She never remarried and raised me. I got her strong gene.
I have some of my Dad's stuff like the sewing kit they were given, and some army stuff they were issued.
