Very nice @Marp, but not really typical. Is the second picture in California? Perhaps after the rains? I love and live in the desert but it's an acquired taste, I admit. It changes with the light and clouds every minute. The colors can be magnificent.

@Kachina624, the second photo is from California. There are a number of sites showing photos of the super bloom in several areas that going on now. It is expected to peak this weekend. Stunning.
If by not typical you were referencing the first photo I know it is an extreme depiction but that was intentional as I believe that is the way most people picture the desert (missing its real beauty even without the blooms).
You are so right about changes due to light and clouds and perspective.

We have had so much rain, the desert is sprouting a pretty green carpet around my area....can't wait to see if the cactus blooms are spectacular this spring !

Um............they didn't mention that some of those "wildflowers" are WEEDS blooming after the heavy rains.......

No they aren't weeds. The definition of "weed" is any plant growing in an unintended location. These plants are growing exactly where our creator intended for them to grow and bloom.
