Once you condemn all Muslims in this country, you condemn the very fiber of our ideology. We have criminals in every size, shape, enthnicity, and color in this country, but we don't brand every citizen as a criminal. We've had other terrorists in this country, homegrown ones, too. Radical extremists exist in all cultures, and you can only fight them on extremist threat at a time.
agreed
A friend of mine on IG posted this the other day - just as reminder that the majority of Muslims are not terrorists (it is sad that it even had to be posted...but it seems that people don't realize that Muslims are in great numbers around the world, without issues)
How can we tell who is Isis, who is Taliban, who is Al Quaeda and who is not any of those?

The same way you can tell the criminals and wackadoos among the world's Christian population.

and why SHOULD THEY? Why aren't those types of commendations put on other religious groups who do hateful and hurtful things? I see and read a lot of horrible things that other religious groups do, and I do not see a lot of commendation for that from the moderates - what I do read are people agreeing with them.
And moderate muslims have been speaking up. It isn't being reported widely on "some" channels as that would burst their narrative. It also doesn't help that a lot of Americans are ready with the pitchforks to go after any Muslim, so it is difficult for them to speak up. Perhaps they don't want to be harrassed when their loving neighbors find out they are Muslim.
to add onto these thoughts @biancardi .......there is one in particular that i admire a lot and he has a lot of interesting and relevant things to say.......dean obeidallah who is frequently on cnn, but you can also follow him on twitter and facebook. i know MANY moslems and i can tell you they ARE speaking out and they are sickened by these events......a person has to be willing to listen AND find them. the islam of the terrorists is NOT islam
http://www.cnn.com/profiles/dean-obeidallah
i also recommend listening to and watching reza aslan along with shirin ebadi.

Out of 1.6 billion? Would be nice to see the Imams from mosques all over the country speak out. I'd like to see much more involvement from the Muslim community.

Great answer, JLKZ. My sentiments exactly. And I will not live in fear nor will I even entertain the idea that they will win. Good and decency will prevail!

So to those few who shot down my post and questioned Why should they speak out? Are you kidding me what is wrong with you? If a Christian does something we all hold them accountable. There is so much anti Christian and Jew bashing that is tolerated why would we not expect Muslims to do the same?
And for the record I never said that there are not those who do speak out. I happened to live in ethnically diverse community and so I know people do speak out but it needs to grow louder.
That is my opinion you can disagree but do not act as if my life experience and my diverse ethnic background does not give me first hand knowledge of what I speak about.
