I know that a lot of these calls originate in jails.

I am glad that a least a few of the scammers were arrested. I don't feel any desire to "blame" the victims or call them suckers or fools. These criminals often pray on the elderly or those suffering from some dementia. Personally, I used to put those callers on hold and not come back. Now, with caller I.D., if I don't know the identity of who is calling, I don't pick up.
Do the math.
