There was a woman I once met whose name was Hoot. I'm not kidding, it wasn't a family name, or anything. Who would stick a poor little girl with a name like that?

I live in the Houston area, where there was a very prominent family in history named Hogg. They were involved in politics and very much into philanthropy. One of the daughters was named Ima. Seriously.

For me, I still think that 'Apple' is one of the most unusual words used as a name.   I just cannot seem to connect with that.  This is not a dig on her mother or anything, as I have no opinion there.  It's just the name.
