We were sick of the scam calls, telemarketers, surveys and now politicians, so we bought the Call Blocker by Digitone for around $100.

BEST investment ever! Easy to set up and use and it blocks a ton of #'s. My house has never been so quiet! At first it was almost eerily quiet, but I LOVE not having to get up to check the caller ID all the time!

It was the highest rated call blocker on the market according to recent tests by Consumer Reports.

Amazon is where I bought ours, you can read about it there.

I'm afraid a link may be deleted, since I saw a thread about Infinity pools was deleted because it "contained a link".

To the best of my knowledge QVC doesn't sell Infinity pools, so I'm not sure why the link got it deleted.

Just make sure it's the one made by Digitone, since some of the other brands names are similar.

We signed up for nomorobo which is free and has stopped these nonsense calls.

@Lipstickdiva  I have nomorobo & still got a call from them; they left a message while I was out.  I would not have answered if I'd been home anyway, as I only answer when I recognize the caller.  I kind of wish I'd taken that call, though, because I would have asked them to hold on a second, then walked into the bathroom & started flushing, with my phone held up close.  hehehehehehe  If they called back, I would have blown my whistle into their ear.  another hehehehehehehe  Reporting them to both IRS & FTC, not that it will help much because those a**holes constantly change numbers.

Those people are really something.  I was just doing a remote check of my landline VM & those IRS scammers called 9 times this morning.  Must have gotten frustrated because I set the call blocker on that number yesterday.  I also transcribed the message they left last Friday & filed complaints with the IRS & FTC.  The space on the IRS site is limited, so I could only give them part of the message I received, but was able to provide the entire thing to the FTC site.  Sheesh!

We have a friend from El Salvador who received one of the threatening IRS calls.  She called us in tears because she didn’t have the money and was afraid.  My husband told her it was a scam and to block the number.  It really made me angry how these predators prey on the vulnerable.  Unfortunately, there will always be criminals trying to take advantage of others.

These scammers change numbers and approaches constantly hoping to hit the right person at the right time.  Lately, on our phone, they’re using all kinds of charity names.  There was a time when calls from charities were legitimate but not anymore.  We get fake calls from "The Nature Conservancy", "The Humane Society", etc.  These scammers can spoof any name or number.   It’s a shame that we can no longer trust caller ID.

These telemarketers should be caught and sent to the moon!!

@Lipstickdiva   I have nomorobo and still got the IRS call.  I get other telemarketing calls, too.  I have reached my limit for blocking calls on my phone and am thinking about getting another type of call blocker.  I don't think anything can stop them completely.

I wish I could get my mother-in-law to stop answering calls she doesn't recognize.

She will say, well what if it someone I know or what if I don't have my glasses with me.

If it's someone you know and it's that important they will leave you a message and what's the point of having caller ID if you are going to answer every phone call that comes in.

She thinks it's funny to tell them to hold on and put the phone down and walk away.

They seem to leave a lot of messages with all of their info, so I'm guessing that they know that nothing will ever happen to them, no matter what.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Sadly, people do fall for this scam. My friend's daughter is out several thousand dollars because of it. The call scared her and she 'tried to make it right' quickly.
