I get calls at work from extended vehicle warranty companies.  Several of them and the calls are increasing.  Darn car companies must sell them information when you buy a vehicle.  I keep telling them I don't own that car, but they keep calling.  I have hung up on them and repeatedly asked them to stop harrassing me.  I can't report them to BBB because I don't know the name of the company(s).  If I were at home I'd take my friend's suggestion and blow a whistle right into the phone.  That would probably get your name on their do not call list real fast.  LOL.

The Do Not Call registry is a joke.  There is absolutely no enforcement.  This is just another  government program designed to make us think that the government is helping you when in fact it is just another excuse to waste our tax dollars.

These so-called IRS calls come from private lines, more than likely cellphones.  They are difficult to block.  They will leave lengthy, threatening messages.

At 7:30 the phone rang,  thought it might be my son on his way to work. Thanks to you all here when I heard IRS I hung up. They must get on the widow list.

The IRS does not call and knows your name, so a phone call saying "you" are being sued is not from the IRS.

I've had to deal with the IRS for various reasons over the years.  I can tell you they do not call people.

They usually send letters (computer generated) and/or registered letters.

If it were me I'd contact the Attorney General's office and tell them about these phone calls as it must be against the law.

@KathyPet  I disagree with your statement.  The Do Not Call Registry was created to allow us to limit telemarketers' calls.  Scam calls claiming to be from IRS are not telemarketing calls.  Additionally, we all know how fast technology changes & the bad guys are constantly finding new ways to try to scam us.  It's all a matter of us staying a step ahead of them.

I could not agree with you more.  There are so many exceptions to the law....political parties are exempted, along with charities, schools and the list goes on. It is all smoke and mirrors.  I am on the DoNotCall list and I get at least four unsolicited calls per day. And, I did get one of those IRS calls.

Years ago the IRS did call us. They were trying out something new. I would not tell them anything and asked if they were the IRS from the US Gov. I then called our accountant and he checked into it and it was the IRS and it was a new plan. Because of all the complaints I think the IRS stopped this.

These newest calls can be reported to IRS.Gov.

Funny because I just got one of these stinkers yesterday. Whoever they are they were leaving a scare tactic message on my machine (I never answer the phone..I screen). I was giving them the one finger salute the whole time they were blah blah blah-ing. Woman Very Happy
