I go back and forth....sometimes it's a good experience and others not so much! I tend to only go in 1 store if I go to the mall. I get overwhelmed by all the stuff...trying on all the items...then waiting in a really long line. By the time I do that in 1 store I am beyond ready to LEAVE! I can't imagine going from store to store for hours....no that doesn't appeal to me. So the people in those little pop up stands in the center don't really bother me as I usually park in front of the 1 store I plan on shopping at! But when I do have to go out in the jungle it is lame for sure....I just keep going NO THANKS and breeze by.

The experience of going to the mall is something I haven't liked for years. I try to avoid going there as much as possible. If I go there, it's usually for one or two stores only, and then I'm out of there. I prefer to go to strip malls or do my shopping online.

You can't make eye contact with those people.
Agreed! These are the only malls I can tolerate.

The b&m availability of the everyday clothes I buy has been shrinking for years. My go-to dept stores have been closing, down to only one left that still has ordinary clothes I wear daily. So I've been shopping for clothes online for awhile due to necessity.
The bummer is wanting to try something new - a mail-order site where I like the look of the clothes but have no idea how they will fit - and trying to guess size, then paying for shipping and returns (not to mention the hassle of re-packaging, going to mail it, waiting for the credit to come through, etc) if it doesn't fit.
Regardless of what size I often wear, regardless of measurements given on a page, I have to try most things on, at least as a first-time buy. I have learned that as far as my body, things that should fit by measurement sometimes don't, and I often need to buy a size down from measurements - and not QVC - I don't buy clothes from QVC. It's a kwap shoot for me as far as fit and sizing.
It used to be that if I was looking for clothes at the mall, I might have 4-5 stores to shop in. That hasn't been the case for a long time. So, going to the mall to buy is a waste of my time now. When I do go it's to browse fairly disinterestedly to kill time. The food courts in the local malls are sooooo bad.
In LA, the kiosk-ers are a giant PITA. Aggressive has never bothered me, but they continue to ramp it up. The skin care/dead sea sellers are very often ex-Israeli military. Google "Westfield" + "Dead sea" or Onsen and read on.

@Colinka ~ As much as I like to shop, I really dislike malls. The only mall that I don't mind visiting is an outdoor mall about 10 minutes from our house, and the only store I go to there is Talbots.

Every large mall has a Management Office ..... have you registered a complaint? If not, why not?

It's been years since I've liked going to the mall. I can remember friends and I used to drive to various malls and shop until we dropped. I have no problem walking by kiosks or stores trying to pull you in. I say no thank you and keep walking. I buy what I need online. I have no desire to go to the mall.

Not me! Local mall has many FREE samples of tastee food. Yummy. And the kiosk people say nothing. (Whoops...the cute SPINNERS young man DID say "check them out" as I cruised by this afternoon.) Not a bad visit

I HATE the whole mall shopping experience. I can spend hours looking for something at the mall, or minutes online in the comfort of my own home and jammies.
And, if you're middle-aged or older, the malls don't cater to us.
I can see our local mall going away at some point. It has three anchor stores...Macy's, Penney's and Sears. And that particular Macy's location is not an attractive shopping option. And the dressing rooms are filthy!
And I totally agree about the kiosk people. I've had some get very aggressive and they are an irritant that I don't need.
Plus, those hard floors make my back ache! So, I'm walking through there throbbing, hot flashing, and being accosted. Not fun! ![]()

After working in several malls for years, I don't enjoy shopping in them now. I like to go once around Christmas, for the atmosphere (not TOO close to the holidays). Nothing like seeing the Christmas window displays in NYC that my Mom used to take us to, but it's fun to see the special things that are there at that time of year.
