I'm taking my mom out to a very nice brunch on Mother's Day. I'd also like to get her a gift. Any ideas? Something you'd like to give/receive? Online shopping ideas especially welcome. THANKS!!

Can you tell us more about her? Interests? Hobbies? That would be helpful. Otherwise, I can't imagine what a stranger might like.

BTW, you sound like a wonderful daughter!

I don't know how much you want to spend, since you're already taking her out for brunch.

You could take her shopping afterwards (if she likes shopping) for a special treat- jewelry, make up, perfume, pajamas.

Massages, mani/pedi, or some sort of personal care service might be nice.

Take her out to see a movie.

Go to a place that you would not normally go (a fancy hotel, chocolatier, etc.) for a treat.

If she likes activities, you could do something on a different day like painting pottery, playing mini-golf, going to an amusement park, etc.

If she lives alone (or needs help) you could make her a coupon book of your services- gardening, cleaning, painting, running errands, driving her somewhere, computer help, etc.

My mom has been gone for 3 years now, but several years before she passed away, my sister and I gave her a silver bangle bracelet from the "Bangles from Heaven" line. Each bangle has a scripture etched on it. Now, my mom wasn't terribly religious in terms that she had a strong belief, but didn't go to church. Anyway, she cried and cried when we gave this to her. Now that she's gone, I have the bangle and I wear it about 4 days a week. I love it.

They have them still in sterling silver, but also sell them now in silver plated so that it's more affordable.

The scripture on her bracelet said "Her children rise up and call her blessed". I just googled it and it said it was from Proverbs 31.28.

If you're interested, you can google Bangles from Heaven and several sites sell them. A local store here in Atlanta sells the plated ones and I bought a few for myself the other day.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Also, a piece of JBK jewelry might be nice, before the collection is totally gone.

She's a very vivacious joyful loving generous witty person. She loves to knit. She loves PBS television -- Doc Martin, Downton Abbey, etc... She lives with my dad in a retirement community (The Villages). Does this help?

I'd give her a certificate to her favorite wool shop then.
