Do you understand that I ordered egg whites and the order was wrong! THAT's what the huge deal was, and the rinsed coffee cup. I told him at the time that the order was wrong, that I can't eat real eggs (didn't tell him why at the time) and that's why I wasn't going to eat the mistake he brought me even though he was pushing me to do so.
When I complained to the management THAT is what I was complaining about.... even the real egg order was wrong. It didn't have any omelette stuff inside, nothing.... his entire service to us was not acceptable. THAT was the point of contention from us to management. If they talked to him at all, it would be about the rinsed coffee cup and not telling the customer that they are out of egg whites while they are ordering!
They are extremely lucky that you didn't report them to the board of health.
As far as the omelette is concerned, do you have a Dunkin Donuts nearby? They have an egg white sandwich where you can just use the wrap to hold the egg white and you don't need to eat the wrap. With a cup of coffee it's pretty good because of the seasoning and vegies in it.

Sorry the research I found for you made you angry.
A lot of people tried to help you out, so much for that...

No... I CAN'T EAT EGGS. My doctor of five years has recommended my not eating them. Read another of my responses and it will explain further.
Everything would have been fine had he not leaned over to me and said (in a nasty way) "I thought you couldn't eat eggs". It was done quickly, pointedly and he was gone. I was getting angry because that was not necessary. When he came back, I explained that I had just come from taking my blood tests and these eggs were a treat for me. That I wasn't allergic, just couldn't have them. He started getting into it about it from last time and I told him to "let it go".... he continued on and two more times I told him to "let it go" and it was none of his business. DH and I told him that quite a few times. He would not be quiet and go away.
HE PUSHED THIS.... not me.
We've gone to this restaurant for four years.... in four years I've probably had real eggs less than a half dozen times!

Why shouldn't I make a big deal out of it? Had I been allergic and didn't notice they were real eggs, I would have been in real trouble....and so would the restaurant!.
You would have been p.o'd if someone ordered one thing and got something else? Upset because you were told someone couldn't eat eggs and didn't order eggs. I didn't feel the reason why was any of his business. And it isn't. I rarely eat eggs because of cholesterol.... so I can't have them. Because I ordered them the next time shouldn't affect him in any way.....(it was a treat as I said in my OP) and I can't believe that I have to lay down my medical history regarding this in order to "satisfy" a server who thinks they need to understand why.
It was once believed that eggs contributed to raising a person's cholesterol. You may want to research eggs and cholesterol, and discuss with your doctor regarding the fact that eggs have minimal effect on blood cholesterol and, therefore, heart disease. In fact, the benefits of eating the yolk may outweigh any disadvantages.
This isn't MY research and decision. My doctor told me not to eat real eggs. I do realize the chances in thinking regarding eggs and I would eat them every day if I could HOWEVER, my test results come back normal if I avoid them (and other sources, which I do).... and come back higher when I indulge in eggs. I watch my diet very carefully. But all this rests with my doctor's orders regarding eggs....
Fine. I did suggest discussing with your physician and obviously would not know what you may have already discussed with your physician. No need for the loud CAPS. :-)
For crying out loud, I highlighted two words in caps, MY and HOWEVER.... indicating it was my doctor's decision and to include why.... hardly yelling..... some people use caps to highlight.... ![]()

To me, the first one, "I CAN'T eat eggs" means there is a health reason, such as an allergy, where if one were to eat them, there would be some sort of physical reaction.
To me, the second one, "I DON'T eat eggs", means that it is a personal preference, or choice.
For example, I don't eat brussel sprouts, not because I am allergic to them, which I am not, but simply because I don't like them.
But that's just me.
So, I can see the confusion on the waiter's part.
Having said that, I wouldn't have gone back a second time, I don't care how "small" a town is. There are always other options, such as going to another restaurant the next town over.
As stated above, my doctor advised not eating eggs because my cholesterol goes up when I have a diet of them (3-4 times a week). So I can't eat eggs. I am not allergic but there IS a reaction (albiet slow - 3 month average). I have been with this doctor for five years. The last year and a half I've gone for testing every 3 months for A1C and Lipids. According to those tests, my numbers go out of Normal when I eat eggs. They are normal when I rarely eat eggs. So according to my doctor.... I can't eat eggs (if I want my Cholesterol tests to be normal)... and I want my Cholesterol tests to be normal.
A1c tests for blood glucose levels over a three month period. Dont think that is impacted by eating eggs.
I'm getting really frustrated here.... don't you people read?? I have an A1C test and a test for Lipids (Cholesterol). I have a test every 3 months for A1C and Lipids....

No, I'm not angry, so sorry if I came across as that way because I actually appreciate your research and have touched upon it only recently (will delve further). I am just frustrated by some of what I've been reading here.....

But we know we will get many different opinions when we start a thread. It's to be expected. Some will egg you on, others will show you their sunny-side, and others will coddle you and agree with you 100%, so there's no sense in being hard-boiled about it. Just take it over easy, okay?

Chill, take a deep breath. You said "according to those tests, my numbers go out of Normal when I eat eggs". Those tests, both of them. That is what you wrote, So i was clarifying for you that i didnt think A1C would impact cholesterol results because it measures blood glucose.

I want to thank everyone for their participation, I really do appreciate all the input....
I will make changes to my language regarding this, even though I don't consider eating eggs an option.... I will now say "I don't eat eggs" instead of "I can't eat eggs". Hopefully that will be clearer.
I plan to talk to Management once more regarding this guy. Whether he was P.O.'d by our last encounter or not, challenging a customer over anything is not acceptable behavior and then standing there pushing the customer verbally is even less acceptable. We will not be returning.
A suggestion finding egg white sandwiches is an excellent one I hadn't thought of and thank you!!.... we plan to do that this Sunday! With a big coffee of course... thank you again.
If I sounded terse in some of my answers.... it was from frustration to quite a few posts that were missing the point and I apologize to anyone I might have offended or anyone who might have thought I was angry at them.... I really wasn't.... just trying to clarify what I had written.....
Thanks again.... tough room! ![]()
