A lot of people are like that these days.
They just want to argue.

You would have been p.o'd if someone ordered one thing and got something else? Upset because you were told someone couldn't eat eggs and didn't order eggs. I didn't feel the reason why was any of his business. And it isn't. I rarely eat eggs because of cholesterol.... so I can't have them. Because I ordered them the next time shouldn't affect him in any way.....(it was a treat as I said in my OP) and I can't believe that I have to lay down my medical history regarding this in order to "satisfy" a server who thinks they need to understand why.
It was once believed that eggs contributed to raising a person's cholesterol. You may want to research eggs and cholesterol, and discuss with your doctor regarding the fact that eggs have minimal effect on blood cholesterol and, therefore, heart disease. In fact, the benefits of eating the yolk may outweigh any disadvantages.
This isn't MY research and decision. My doctor told me not to eat real eggs. I do realize the chances in thinking regarding eggs and I would eat them every day if I could HOWEVER, my test results come back normal if I avoid them (and other sources, which I do).... and come back higher when I indulge in eggs. I watch my diet very carefully. But all this rests with my doctor's orders regarding eggs....

I wouldn't waste 2 more seconds thinking about it.
Go somewhere else.

To me, the first one, "I CAN'T eat eggs" means there is a health reason, such as an allergy, where if one were to eat them, there would be some sort of physical reaction.
To me, the second one, "I DON'T eat eggs", means that it is a personal preference, or choice.
For example, I don't eat brussel sprouts, not because I am allergic to them, which I am not, but simply because I don't like them.
But that's just me.
So, I can see the confusion on the waiter's part.
Having said that, I wouldn't have gone back a second time, I don't care how "small" a town is. There are always other options, such as going to another restaurant the next town over.
As stated above, my doctor advised not eating eggs because my cholesterol goes up when I have a diet of them (3-4 times a week). So I can't eat eggs. I am not allergic but there IS a reaction (albiet slow - 3 month average). I have been with this doctor for five years. The last year and a half I've gone for testing every 3 months for A1C and Lipids. According to those tests, my numbers go out of Normal when I eat eggs. They are normal when I rarely eat eggs. So according to my doctor.... I can't eat eggs (if I want my Cholesterol tests to be normal)... and I want my Cholesterol tests to be normal.

Fine. I did suggest discussing with your physician and obviously would not know what you may have already discussed with your physician. No need for the loud CAPS. :-)

A1c tests for blood glucose levels over a three month period. Dont think that is impacted by eating eggs.

Maybe he just wanted to make sure he got the order right since he messed up the first time. You have been very understanding and patient with this restaurant. The food must be pretty good overall!
And HH, don't kid yourself, you'd be chomping at the bit to get home to post a complaint if that happened to you.

@151949 wrote:OP - you made a huge deal out of saying you "can't eat eggs" - went to the manager and got the waiter in trouble and everything over this -- then the next time you come in you order eggs. If I were your waiter I would have also questioned that order since you made such an issue of it the last time you were there that you CAN'T EAT EGGS.If I were him I would not have wanted to bring you an order of eggs either.
Do you understand that I ordered egg whites and the order was wrong! THAT's what the huge deal was, and the rinsed coffee cup. I told him at the time that the order was wrong, that I can't eat real eggs (didn't tell him why at the time) and that's why I wasn't going to eat the mistake he brought me even though he was pushing me to do so.
When I complained to the management THAT is what I was complaining about.... even the real egg order was wrong. It didn't have any omelette stuff inside, nothing.... his entire service to us was not acceptable. THAT was the point of contention from us to management. If they talked to him at all, it would be about the rinsed coffee cup and not telling the customer that they are out of egg whites while they are ordering!
