@Junebug54 ... No apology necessary. You stated your feelings and your feelings are valid. In all the years I watched home shopping networks I didn't watch Christmas Tree decorating shows in July simply because I was too busy enjoying all the things our family does in the good old summertime.

I love deorating for Christmas! Just can't think about it in July. I have never bought anything in July for presents. We have downsized on gifts. We have children & Grandchildren that have everything they need. Of course we give presents just not so much! To me it's not the reason for the season. I love the cooking & seeing family & friends. The way our house looks for the holidays. I actually have more decorations than I can use. I don't watch a lot of QVC on television. I check things out online. The way shipping is going I wouldn't want to need to exchange anything after Christmas!!

I have quite a large family to shop for, cookies to bake etc.. and do not need 5 months to prepare.
I like Christmas In July, its a nice distraction from all thats going on in the world and keeps my mind off the summer heat, BUT I admit this year CIJ was a repetitive mess. .......But I DID enjoy Valerie Parr Hill's shows and I got some decorating ideas that I can implement when the season starts...
While you might have things all under control and don't need 5 months to prepare, there are others out there that DO need to budget their purchases (like a friend of mine on a tight budget and a large family with sons/daugther & their spouses and 6 grandchildren---they wont draw names) so she does need to spread out gift purchases. So CIJ is a blessing to her!
Also with the delivery services---Amazon, UPS, Fed Ex, and USPS being overwhelmed more and more as more people shop online you just cant wait for the traditional day after Thanksgiving to start your shopping either if you want to make sure the gifts are there for Christmas.....
By getting shopping and decorating plans out of the way, when the Christmas season officially starts instead of running and rushing around in panic, stressed out, and overwhelmed you can actually sit back, relax, and enjoy the true meaning of the season without the hassle.......
Those that HATE CIJ can certainly abandon QVC for a few weeks out of the year....
I HATE SUMMER --- so to each their own!

@Junebug54 I'm not offended but please forgive me for havin a bit of a laugh because I don't think the Q is telling you to put up a tree in this heat-and yes, we have heat here too.
Look at what they sell; much of it is marked down and probably left over inventory from last Christmas. Making room for new "stuff" for laterChristmas.
Some folks like a bargain and some do start early.
Some folks like Christmas in July and some don't.
I don't think you will ever find a reason why; and you are not alone in starting threads about CIJ.
It just is what it is.

@50Mickey wrote:It's funny how we are all so different in what we like and don't like. For me Christmas in July is a small diversion from the horrible summer heat. I live in the south and the heat starts up in May. Sometimes lasting until mid October. I don't decorate for Christmas in July but I do catch a few of the Christmas movies and Valerie's shows. So far I only purchased one item.
I despise the summer months. So when July is over I think we are just a month away from my favorite season fall. As far back as when I was a child and believe me that was many years ago merchants have had Christmas in July sales. I remember one year Dillard's put out Christmas decor, china and linens and advertised Christmas in July sales.
It's interesting how everyone is different, some HATE and despise CIJ and even Christmas as well (for different reasons)....But like you, I live in Texas and I HATE SUMMER!!!! The heat/humidity/the high electric bills as the A/C runs continuously....I also long for cooler days and the joy of the Christmas season, its not about the gifts anymore for us, just a few of us even exchange a $20 token gift which is usually in the form of a donation to that person's favorite charity....Christmas now is more about the faith aspect, the joy of the season in local events, music, movies, decorating displays, and just getting together .....

Christmas in July isn't a big deal for me, I don't 'participate', and it doesn't really distract me from anything. I realize it's a marketing strategy and think it lasts too long but pretty much ignore it to the extent I can. Though I've long been familiar with the term, it was never an actual 'event' that I was much aware of prior to, at one time, watching a lot of QVC. It does seem to have taken off more recently than it ever did growing up. For the record, the actual season itself, the real one in December, has also seemed to lose a bit of its luster, and no longer commands a great deal of my attention. I do agree with those who don't enjoy summer and long for fall but honestly, for me, don't think a focus on CIJ is going to prove much of a distraction from the relative misery of summer weather or from other events that have made this year a particularly unpleasant year. Each to their own, though, and if you enjoy it, well then, have at it.

No offense here! Don't watch them.
I only watch a few fashion shows .... not interested in anything else.

If Christmas in July is bothersome to you, simply don't watch it. I don't like the news so I do not watch it. CIJ is a huge money maker for the Q and a lot of business owners. It will not stop and has been on-going for over 30 years on the QVC.
I really enjoy it, for the most part, as I like to be prepared and get much of my shopping out of the way. I like to spend the month of December enjoying my home, my decorations and my family/guests. I don't like the running around looking for gifts at this time. So the Q and stores give me the option of having peace.
We are all different with different needs.......again, if it bothers you, simply don't watch.
