I Turned on My Heat Today

[ Edited ]

It finally got cold enough that I had to turn on my heat at home.

Our lows have been in the mid-30's.

My thermostat is set between 50° - 55°.

You may think that I enjoy the cold.

I don't.

But, the higher the temperature, the more it costs, so in order to pinch pennies, I keep the thermostat set low, and just bundle up.

What do you have your thermostat set at?

The Sky looks different when you have someone you love up there.

Re: I Turned on My Heat Today

I live in Colorado so it's been cold here already since October....snowed already, too.

I have my thermostat set to go down to 53' at night then it goes up to 59' during the day. I can't stand it when the temp is higher than 60'...I love being in a cooler place and wintertime is my fave.

I keep my heat on 62. I don't like being to warm. But if the temperatures drop to where the water lines could freeze then I'll turn it up.

I turned on my electricity today. Oh, and my water faucets too.

@Anonymous032819   Your house is way to be cold to be comfortable.  I'd have a chill if mine was that cold.  I'd economize elsewhere.

@Pearlee.  Did you flush your outhouse?

First floor usually between 58 and 60, a bit higher if I'm cooking, cooler in the living room (6 windows). Second floor usually 56, 57, no higher than 58. Getting used to colder temps is much easier than adjusting to hot weather.

I have K&H heated beds around the house for the cats, so they stay warm enough.

My bed has a heated Sherpa mattress pad under the fitted sheet and I always turn it on LO on the side where my golden sleeps. But she always jumps off the bed when I do that...LOL! So now I don't heat her side of the bed, just my side.Woman Happy @noodleann

Re: I Turned on My Heat Today

We’ve lived in the desert for a long time and have acclimated to the heat. We are comfortable with our thermostat set in the upper 70s year round.
