People usually come to me when they need cat advice, but this time I'm stumped. I heard there was a knowledgeable person on these boards who offers cat advice & I'm hoping she'll read this post.
We have cat/kitten who's about 1-1/2 yrs old. My sister found her as a stray in her small, rural town where she lives. She was less than 2 months old.
It's not every time (but often enough to be a BIG concern) but sometimes when she's on something SMOOTH (usually a sink, a tub or my down blanket on my bed) where she can glide her front paws on it, she startes to make that digging motion and then sometimes hunkers down to pee!! If I catch her I'll yell or pick her up & bring her down to her litter box. But if I DON'T catch her, we sometimes find that she's peed. Again, it rarely happens--maybe once a month--but I sure don't want to deal with this for 20 years! The other morning my hubby noticed that she had peed in the kitchen sink. I've seen her try this in the bathroom sink & stopped her b4 she had the chance to pee.
Her litter box is scooped daily (we only have 1 other cat) and she has a choice of 3 boxes. She's such a happy girl, she & her sister play together wonderfully, she has no health issues and we haven't changed her food. Plus, she gets lots of love & attention from hubby & me (we have no kids).
I can't figure this one out. Any ideas?
