GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. --
A special dog in the Upstate is in need of a permanent home.
Starship, a Collie mix, has a condition known as Megaesophagus, where her esophagus is dilated. She was starving her first few weeks of her life but once her condition was diagnosed she became vibrant and a lot of fun to play with.
The only way she is able to eat is by sitting in a high chair, called a Bailey chair, designed to keep dogs upright. As she grows, she will need a larger chair. A local company, Archway Renovations, will provide an adjustable Bailey Chair for her to use as she grows.
Greenville County Animal Care says Starship will need to be placed in a home that can meet her extra needs. She might fit in, in a home with children or someone who is used to caring for a child. She needs to eat 4-5 times daily and must be watched while eating and drinking. She must do both in her chair and sit in the high chair for 30 minutes after meals. Normally she will fall right asleep and enjoys being cuddled.
If you’re interested in adopting Starship, you can fill out an application through Animal Care at 328 Furman Hall Road.
