The ads on t.v. calling for help lead me to believe they'll ask the potential hiree 1 question: "What would you like for compensation?"

It almost makes one feel like quitting their job to go with them!

@Kachina624  Early this morning local news here in Florida reported that even if all those looking for jobs found them, we would still have thousands of unfilled jobs.  No details about what kinds of jobs remain open, where those jobs are, and not a peep ever about where the extra people are going to come from.

Amazon's deep pockets should help them find workers -- assuming enough unemployed or unhappily employed elsewhere live relatively close.  All I hope is that some of that money is going to send out climate-friendly trucks because in my cul de sac, we see 3 and often more of their vehicles 7 days a week.

@millieshops   There are people who have quit their jobs and still not looking for work. So, how are they paying rent, feeding their families, etc.?

@77yangya I am very sorry for your loss.

And I agree with others, uneventful?   I'll take it any day of the week.

You hit the jackpot with Prime Trucks and a warehouse nearby @Kachina624   I ordered something yesterday afternoon and the Prime truck was here at 6:30 am.

@77yangya

Sadly, I understand your pain and sense of loss and sorry you are without your kitty.

When I lost my last senior boy I was heartsick and simply cannot face the idea of adopting again.

You do heal, but you never stop missing them.

@Shanus They are on the newest wage-earning program.  They are on the dole!  That's the only answer.  Because you asked the right question.

@Sooner   I would assume unemployment runs out eventually.

@Shanus It used to.  Not sure about now.  But I know of churches that are building free food pantries the size of a small braums with walk up to cases etc.  And habitat is building homes at a rapid rate, kids get free food at school and for the weekend.

I certainly believe in helping people who need it and are having a hard time, but what I see is not means tested, and starting to outpace some small retailers.

So I am not making judgment here, but I do question if some organizations are being effective in determining who really needs help and who simply is taking advantage of a free ride.  Thereby harming those who really need a hand up.

What I"m seeing and hearing does not match up with companies not being able to hire workers.  Makes me think something is not right here.

Where I live in a big metroplex city in Texas is we now have lots of homeless living around our neighborhood. My home was expensive by my perspective but we live near a lower income section and an immigrant section. We purchased a house that was lower priced neighborhood than most around here. I don't mind living among different people, it makes life interesting. But it makes me sad to see so many homeless, especially the young teenage ones pitching tents in the parking lots behind retail buildings. And of course, we have a lot of crime. Could they get jobs, well maybe at some point but its hard to apply for a job if you don't have a phone or a way to clean up for that interview. They can use the computers at our nearby library. When I drive to the further Target, I often see many homeless walking the sidewalks pushing their shopping carts of belongings. I am not mentioning drug or alcohol abuse here, I am sure some find this to be a way of escaping or even the cause of their problems. And the other elephant in the room is mental illness.

Detachment isn't the absence of love but the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of someone else's choices.
