The cost of my item at the store is $5.26. I give the young girl cashier a $20 bill plus a quarter and a penny. She just stares at it and asks why I am giving her that amount. I finally say - Just enter it in the cash register and you will see what I am doing. She does and is so surprised to have to give me only two bills in change.

your post made me laugh out loud....I think I have seen this cashier.....hahahaha....

HI! I just got back here -- am enjoying reading all of your posts, and identifying too!

About being of another generation -- I even remember when I first heard a server in a restaurant say "No problem!" in response to me saying "Thank you!" At that point I thought it was the funniest thing, of course now I'm used to it. Smiley Happy

-Solar

Solar....some people say "Absolutely" in the same manner as No Problem....the proper response is "You're Welcome"....I don't get why they don't simply say You're Welcome....yes..must be a generational thing too.

it might be regional............I'm one of those people that say No Problem and Absolutely in place of your welcome......and I'm not the "new generation" lol......................raven

I don't know if it's a colloquialism thing or not, but my dear sister became very bothered with it in the several years before she died . . . and that was the phrase, "it was so fun." We never said that phrase without the word "much" in front of "fun." We said "it was so much fun." I am used to it now, but I smile at how annoyed she used to get when she heard it said without the "much."

When I bought girl scout cookies and was figuring out the amount I owed with a paper and pencil and the little girl asked me where my calculator was.

When making a s*x tape gets you a multi million dollar contract on a television network, and you are adored by millions.

When I didn't understand the need of Twitter...........I understand the historical stuff, just not the nonsense with celebs and their constant insignificant ravings or people's need to share every meal or experience.

Actually, this Oscar season, when I had no idea who half of the nominees were or what the heck a Daft Punk was.

At work we had an "oldies" station on the radio and a song by The Commodores came on. A young woman said she never heard of them and I said the lead singer was Lionel Ritchie. She still didn't know who that was, and then I said it was Nicole Ritchie's dad. And then she knew !!

LOL! That can work the other way, too. I didn't know until recently that Kate Hudson is Goldie Hawn's daughter, & didn't know Angelina Jolie's dad is Jon Voigt.{#emotions_dlg.blush}
