So tragic what has happened in FL panhandle. I live on gulf coast of FL but several miles inland. People simply should not live directly on the coast. It’s just asking for trouble. Many Florida homes and buildings are flimsy; they’re old Florida. Humans do not belong living at the very edge of the oceans and rivers. Wishing all the Michael victims the best as they begin cleanup and rebuilding.

This made me sob.  God bless all of those impacted by the storm either directly or indirectly but a special shout out to those that rush to help and rebuild:

It's BAD!  Most not able to get home yet if they left. Roads still being cleared of debris and downed power lines.  And if you do get home, there's no water, electricity, or internet! They're hoping to get home or at least see if there are homes to go home to!  One of their homes lost its roof last I heard (neighbor stayed so was able to give that update) but not sure if home intact or needs to be razed due to flooding/water damage. Other home not sure of yet if standing or not. Have moved family members out of state for now until they can access the damage.

First time for me I've known someone who got directly hit by a storm like this. Feel so bad not being able to do anything to help.  We're 1200 miles away!

I don't know how they will be able to assess structural damage in all those damaged homes and other buildings.

The ones that are demolished are just beyond belief-those aerial views are just something else.Woman Sad

And those train cars that were tossed over.  Woman Surprised

I almost crashed my car when I drove by the gas station.  All of sudden that 20 cent jump is gone.  There should be penalties for that!  Like people affected don't have enough going on.

Dear Friends,

We have @ 8 large hardwoods down on our land.  Two huge, huge Hickory trees 🌳 are down about 12 feet from our home, they brought down a big swath of trees as they fell.  Our ground has been soaked all summer and fall, and the shallow rooted hardwoods, with all their leaves still on them are like large sails when those high wind gusts hit them.

Thank all the Graces we and all our family are safe.

Our generator kicked in about 2PM yesterday and is still running.  Trees down on many roads, most areas around us also w/o power.

Hope all of you are well and safe.

@Drythe, so sad to hear of all the tree losses but very thankful you and your family are safe.  I wish I was close enough to help.  Prayers for all affected by these dreadful storms.  LM
