Hi everyone.

Just checking in.  For those who don't know, I live in Nova Scotia on the East Coast of Canada.  Halifax is my home (the capital city).  I am one half hour from Peggy's Cove.  I am sure if you google Peggy's Cove and Hurricane Fiona tomorrow you will get an eyeful of sea conditions.

We have been here before, the last big hit was in 2019 with Hurricane Dorian.  We have done more than we have ever done before in terms of prep.  All weather stations are calling this one 'historic' which is not very reassuring.  It is big and will take more than 14 hours to pass.  Calling for 80 mm tonight and 50+mm tomorrow.

The worst happens overnight.  For some reason, we had. Power outage this morning which lasted a couple of hours.  It is fine now but I am sure we will lose power again.

Thanks for the prayers.  Will check in later.  LM

@Lilysmom1

My heart is with you, and my prayers too.  Our whole house generator was a real blessing after Hurricane Ida last year.

@Lilysmom1

It may be too late to be asking this, but do you have extra oil and filter for your generator? In case of extended power outage, like more than a week, whole home generators can require an oil change.  The length of time depends on make and model.  We learned this when Hurricane Ida had our power out for 10 days.

I, too, was thinking of your location being in harm's way. Of course you and your family's safety is of most importance, so please be careful.

That said, I so hope your lovely property doesn't suffer any significant damage. It's clear your gardens are truly a labor of love, that we've all enjoyed following. Hopefully Fiona will lose a little steam and won't be as bad as predicted.

Thoughts will be with you. Hang in there.

@Lilysmom1    As soon as I heard that thing was heading North toward Canada, I thought of you.  I guess your drought is about to be broken.  I just hope and pray the wind doesn't do too much damage.  Then, in addition to prep for winter, there will be clean up to do.  Fingers crossed that it's minimal.
