One of our Walgreens has a Dropbox. I take all expired medications there. That also includes vitamins, antacids, and OTC meds like Benadryl, Tynenol, etc..

As a school nurse, we are told to dispose of meds by either putting the meds in used coffee grinds or kitty litter and meds will dissolve.

Our Town has a has a drop box for meds in the municipal building.

I am in the boonies with a private septic tank; I flush what few I need to dispose of.

I mix them in with used cat litter.

I take to Walgreens where they have a container for old meds. Sits right by where you pick up your scripts.

Yes, @Kachina624  is right, they incinerate them, which renders them harmless.
