I am certain that when using the ONLY close UPS drop off location the package MUST have a label.

I have done many amazon returns with only the QR code at the ups store. That is all you need.

...But you need to stand in line to do this.  For me it's easier to print out a label and just drop it off (no standing in line) at my local Parcel Place.

I'm also fairly new to Amazon returns. When I take a return to a UPS store with just the QR code, do they charge for the return? Do they charge to box it up?

My understanding that at Kohl's there is no charge, with or without a box.

@shoppingless  make sure you check the right box on how you want it to be sent. There's one that says "label and box" avoid that one unless  that's the way Amazon want it sent which could mean the original box.

@Mom2Dogs Amazon always gives you directions and options.  Go back and READ what they were.  It is explicit and will tell you what to do.

@Sooner When I read the instructions, I could either 1. Pay for a label, 2. pay for label and box OR use the QR Code.

There was a charge for the first two options.

I just thought a label would be given to me like Ebay handles returns.

Why would it matter if the UPS store is in a small town or a large city? It's the same national company. Makes no sense. As someone else said, have you called and specifically asked for this information??

I was in a very small town that didn't even have a UPS store. But I goggled and Amazon returns could be made at a local little pharmacy, of all places. They scanned the code and off it went....and they were incredibly nice and friendly to boot!

@PansyBoo   Besides the UPS Store, Kohl's, and Whole Foods, I've even used Petco weird as that may sound. These online retailers make it very easy for returns.

@shoppingless   My experience is that when I take it to the UPS Store, it needs to be boxed otherwise they'll charge you a nominal fee.  No label needed with the QR CODE. They don't charge you for the return.  They just give you a receipt.

@Mom2Dogs Do you have a printer?  Can't you print the label?  If you don't have a drop off point nearby for a code, can't print the label (which you still may have a charge for) then I guess they have to send you one or you box it and pay shipping. But the options are clear.
