When my dd was little one of her baby teeth became absessed (don't know why...she had good oral hygiene) Anyway, the dentist wanted her to have a root canal because that tooth was important to spacing and wouldn't have come out naturally for a long time. I wouldn't let him do it but took her to an endodontist who refused to do a root canal on a child that age. AND she was a lot older than 3.
