I just wondered if I had the oldest phone.... It is a T Mobil prepaid phone I bought at Costco about 16 plus years ago for $79. It is very small... and I constantly have to recharge it once a week even though I never use it.... or barely use it.
I use it as an emergency phone in case I am out say and my car breaks down to call AAA or the like... and for an occasional long distance call. It costs me $ 100 a year( $10 a month) to buy minutes which I have a million off unused, but to keep the phone working and keep the cheap plan, I have to spend $100 a year. on minutes.
I have never sent a text in my life either! I am just not a phone person.. my husband is addicted to his. He has a real fancy phone. That is his thing... just not mine.
Anyone else have an old phone that still works like me?

@SeaMaiden One of my best friends (I eat with her at least 4 times a week) has an old, old flip phone!
It drives me crazy! She can't get texts, she can't do much of anything with it.
I always tell her, "Jesus made it when he was here on earth."
I'm just the opposite. I always want the latest and greatest of any electronics. (Can't easily figure them out...but eventually I do and I use them).
I'm getting ready to get the Iphone 8. Just have to take the time to go get it.
I thought about the X and my son-in-law who knows everything about electronics told me to wait on that one.
I had the Apple Watch but gave it to my youngest daughter who wanted an update so she gave it to her sister (my middle daughter). She bought herself the latest.
Now I'm ready to buy the latest Apple Watch. I wear a lot of jewelry and don't like the way the watch looks but I think I'll wear it this time.

I usually keep mine about 2 years or so. By then the memory is full & it gets real slow so I get a new one. Current phone is A Samsung Tracfone I got last Oct. DH & I were both addicted to our contract cell phones when we were working but now we arte retired we find that tracfones are just enough for us. Cost about $12/month.

Yeah, I have an old green flip phone that says Samsung on the top and T Mobile on the bottom. I buy minutes but there have been no restrictions. I've had it since before smart phones came out.
Anyway, I recently got a new IPhone as we're on the family plan of brother. $20.00 a month. Love the new phone.

Mine is new, but I do miss the simplicity of my flip phone.

My daughters more or less shamed my husband and I into getting the latest greatest phones probably been at least a couple of years ago now. Before that we both had the little flip phones, which like you, only had for emergency purposes. We never sent one single text with those phones. Now, we are both addicted to the phones we have as you can do so many things with them, it's ridiculous! Pretty much a mini computer in your hands. They cost a whole lot more as well! Oh well.......................

About 3 years ago hubby and I switched from flip phone to Samsung Galaxy 5 phones. We dont like them at all, we wish we had never upgraded. When our new phones were paid for I wanted an old style flip phone, our cell carrier only had 2 and they wanted over $200 for both, Huh?? So I decided to stay with the retched Galaxy.

Texting on a flip phone.
Pressing the #2 key three times = C, etc.
Miss that.
A good flip-phone texter could write an entire message
without their eyes ever leaving the road.

Samsung Tracfone I have had for 2 years and it costs about 10.85 a month to use, I buy the minutes and airtime directly from the Tracfone site.

While their eyes may stay on the road, their mind is not totally where it should be...on traffic and what other drivers may be doing.
Definitely not the way to go...unsafe at any speed.
