After hearing what the Arias trial was costing (read $1.4 million and counting), it got me to wondering how much any individual trial should cost.
On the one hand, the State is asking for the death penalty. So, someone's life is at stake at the outcome.
The OJ Simpson trial went on 9 months, and I felt it was absolutely not necessary. This had the added expense of sequestering the jury and paying their living expenses.
I know everyone is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. How much should the taxpayers pay for an individual trial, especially when they are paying the defendants fees as well as the State?
