Hi everyone! Happy April Fool's Day! Has anyone played a joke on anyone today? I am planning to on DD. Smiley Happy

My day began with my septic tank being pumped, only to be told that the overflow in the clean out was not solved, so I had to call someone else for that, and I might have to replace a pipe due to the roots which are causing this problem every three years or so.

Possumm - your mole story was hilarious!{#emotions_dlg.lol} I used to find dead moles on the lawn when I had cats, but though I know they are still here, I havn't seen any for years. When I was a little girl spending my summer at a friend's ranch, one of the hired hands killed a gopher, which traumatized me! I dug a grave and buried it, making a little cross to put on the grave. Another day, while little, a gopher popped up in the dirt on the front lawn area of my home, and my friends and I played with it. My funniest story gopher related is that one day, while gardening, my cat left my side. I looked up to see him standing with back arched, looking down into the mouth of a gopher who was displaying his teeth by holding his mouth open as wide as he could. I couldn't believe my eyes! They each stayed in this position for a while as I stared, frozen. The gopher then turned and waddled away ever so slowly, into the bush, while I had a grip on my cat. I can see how they get caught, as they move so slowly. He must have known that I would protect him. Smiley Happy

Rird mama - I may have mentioned that while renovating the garden, in the Fall, I came across a Robin's nest resting in a tall Salvia plant. I wouldn't have thought that such a large bird and babies, could have managed in a nest in such a place. I found another nearby last week, an old nest, and since it wasn't as pristine as the other, into the compost it went, only because I had to cut down the plant so that the new stems could prosper.

Now, for the continuing sage of my pups, or should I say "newest" pup, whose name is Remmy, named after the Mustang that DD is currently riding. He took right to his new name. I had to take him back to the Vet last Wednesday for x-rays and blood work, as he was having pain that morning, yelping every so often, stretching flat with his tummy on the ground. Hundreds of dollars later, I was told he had gas in his intestines, and I should bring in a stool sample. If she had told me this the previous week, hundreds of dollars would have been saved, and weeks of discomfort for him could have been avoided. The next morning, I saw blood in his stool, so took it in. The next day, I was told he had Giardia,(sp) and that the medicine she had given me on Wednesday, would kill it. This poor little guy was carrying this around for who knows how many months, which is the reason he would miss meals, and lost weight. He is now eating voraciously, and in between, looking for more food. He is a very good kitchen floor vacuumer. I give him some extra food at bedtime, along with his med.

He has found his voice! While playing with the girl, he barks, LOUDLY, to try to get her to play. She is exhausted by him, LOL! Fortunately, he/they only bark during play, or when someone comes into the yard such as the septic guy. He has also shown his "true" nature, what the Fox Terrier in him was bred for, DIGGING out rodents! He smelled a gopher tunnel, and one day when the two dogs were supposed to be playing, he dug a tunnel into the gopher tunnel, in addition to an indentation for him to sleep in, lol, it was so funny seeing him sleep in this. DH back to the rescue yesterday, filling in tunnels, and placing wire over those areas. Of course, there are still plenty of areas that are not wired, so eventually, that entire patch will have to be dug and wire laid. This little guy has cost me a small fortune in the five weeks that I have had him. He is heavy on his feet, sounding like a buffalo on the wood floor. I bought him a pink, squeaky stuffed dog for Easter, the girl doesn't care much for toys, but he loves them. It was a riot last night watching the two tugging on each end of it trying to get it. The girl held her own, but finally gave up.

DD had another cooking project due, so she cooked Easter dinner, much easier than Thanksgiving. We had ham, yams with marshmallows, green beans, and strawberries with lemon curd mixed with whipped cream, and crumbled Amaretti cookies sprinkled on top.

There has been light rain intermittently lately, with the sun trying to break through, but warm anyway. I am hoping to begin planting some Roses and plants this coming Sunday. I received an email from one of the Rose companies that I had ordered from, saying there was a sale on ground cover roses, so I bought five, whites and pinks. They are great for continual blooming and filling in spaces.

Hope everyone has a pleasant week.

Edited for darned typos.
