Love this time of year...longer daylight hours, readying the gardens, sowing seeds indoors, Spring migration, and a sense of renewal. Yesterday most of our Robins have returned and were on the porch waiting to be fed.

Last night was the 1st night since July I heard their sweet songs...

I love Summer. Summers in New York are too short. I hang on to every second . I love the extra daylight we get from Springing forward. I wish it would stay like that all year.

  The Washington state Legislature passed a law earlier in 2019 to stay on daylight saving time permanently.The law, which passed with strong bipartisan support, was signed by Gov. Jay Inslee in May.

But under federal law, states aren’t allowed to stay on permanent daylight time without congressional approval. That means Washington’s law won’t take effect unless Congress acts — and, in case you haven’t noticed, Congress is a little bit busy to worry about this....

Fun question! I love Spring, yes. But as to the time change I've always been a Fall back girl.

I'm a normal/early bird nowadays, but for most of my life I've been a late bird. Getting up early has never been my favorite at all. So for me, Fall back has always meant an hour more of sleep. Absolute Luxury.

Thanks for the info on Washington, state.  Now, how do YOU feel about spring forward/fall back?  I'm not concerned with politics in here @SeaMaiden .  If you care to respond about the temperature, daylight and sunlight that's fine, but this is not a political thread so let's don't go there.

@gertrudecloset   Being in a warm state on CST the fall back isn't too bad since the sunset is closer to 5 - 6 pm.  Back home it would be dark by 4:30 or so and that was not as pleasant, especially driving home in snow.

DH and I have always been fall season people but it's different here.

I don't mind the time change either way-especially since we are not working.

I do agree about summer, though.  It can be quite hot here and spring time planting is not the same, either.  I just put out some of the plant pots I painted with artificial flowers in them out front-conserve water and at least they won't die on me.

I don't really mind the time change, although I admit I'd rather keep Standard Time year round.

What I don't like is that now Daylight Time is about two months too long, for my taste.  I much preferred it when we started the end of April and went back to Standard the beginning of October.  

Now, it may be light later but it's dark in the morning when most of us are having to get up.  For me that's not an advantage.  And it takes me a couple of weeks to get used to the changeover because of it.

I much prefer standard time.  Count me in the camp who would like to see just one time all year long.  I see no reason (economic or otherwise) to keep this practice of twice a year changes.
