Years ago I worked in the checking department of a huge bank. 

We had to 'pull' checks from being processed and have them 'RETURNED' for being stale dated. 

I would catch the most out of all the girls in the department.

It made me conscientious of making sure I wasn't doing it myself.

I am going to make myself a BIG note about the year.

Otherwise  I will still be writting 2015 on checks.

Not long at all.  As I recall it took a little longer going from 1999 to 2000!

Just thinking about it, I don't have the occasion to write or say the year that much.  But back in the day, when we did a lot of writing, I did fairly well - within that first week I was on board.  

What bugs me is this new thing when people say the year  like - 'twenty sixteen'.  NO!  There is no number 'twenty hundred' in this language.  It's two-thousand sixteen.  there, I said it.    

When the year was 2005 I never heard people calling it the year 'twenty-five'.  That's because it would have been wrong....very, very wrong - just as it is now.

My birthday is the first week of january. The lady who did my birth certificate wrote down the previous year and it was recorded for posterity that way. I am offically a year older than I am. My Mom tried to get it fixed but was unsuccessful because she had no proof. I could have driven when I was 15 and voted at 20 and retired a year early.

I write the date so seldom that I have to make a conscious effort to get it right even late in the year.

@brewhaha    Oh,gosh, I had forgotten about Y2K!  Remember the drama before hand?  

Our hard drives were going to explode, we better all have cash on hand because the banking computers, along w/those on grocery stores, gas stations would be ka-putt too.  Chaos was probably coming we were told.  Some people got frantic.

.......then midnight came & went & everything was ok.  🙂

No problem at all. I just wrote bills out earlier and addressed them for tomorrow with 2016 as the year since they wont be mailed until Saturday anyway.
