How long does it take you to get use to writing or saying the new year?

It takes a relative short time for me I think, since at this age, time just zooms by anyway. Since I don't work and don't write many checks, I don't have a lot of times it pops up. I've been known to revert back to the last year out of the blue. Those few old brain cells that won't let go.

I have more trouble with the time change, I am still set for Spring!

How about you?

I am good to go for the first weeks of a new year.  Sometimes I have a brief "relapse" around February as I stop making a point to think of it when I write checks.

I don't know if it's true or not, but someone told me years ago that the last years' date on a check early in the New Year--or in payment of a bill--is not a deal breaker.  It can just be disregarded and deposited, since a mistake early in the new year is so common.

In my personal checkbook, I will write the new year date in on quite a few check date lines.  In the QuickBooks electronic system, the month and year is on the icon by the date line: one company, one year.  At transition time, I have to be sure I am entering data for the correct year.

On deposit tickets, I also enter the year on several ahead of time.

At first, it is a very conscious effort, so I don't tend to slip up as often.

But until it becomes an automatic habit (about April for me!) I can be seen having to change the date on some things.

A couple of years ago, out of nowhere, I wrote 1983. I don't know where that came from, not a significant year for me. What must that mean?!! LOL
