We do not. No one in our family liked tuna fish.

Mayo, pickled onion or pickled radish.

Tuna made with mayo (not miracle whip), mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, hard boiled eggs and relish on a croissant with sliced tomatoes...now I need to make trip to my local sandwich shop for lunch, lol

Seriously, that's a huge sandwich! How do you get your mouth around it without it all over you?
I prefer, simple, smaller sandwiches. Water based albacore, lemon juice, Best Food mayo, a dab of Grey Poupon mustard, grated carrot, celery, onion, chopped pickle, & sometimes I'll chop up a hard boiled egg. Great bread! That's the key to great sandwiches. Freshly made & from the bakery!

I go to my fav restaurant, Fisherman's and get their tuna fish salad....big dollup of fresh tuna with real mayo on a big bed of green leaf lettuce with hard-boiled eggs, avocado, tomato, capers.....it is to die for....

I always use real mayo and sweet pickle relish. I used to love onions mixed in, but not anymore. Garlic/onions upset my tummy these days.

While I do find mayonnaise to be profoundly repugnant (there aren't even words for HOW gross it is to me), this is the one way I'll use it. Of course, there are rules -
I'm pretty food-neurotic (for some pretty good reasons) and I'll only eat a tuna sandwich if I make it. I won't eat it if anybody else makes it.
I use only Best Foods brand (it's Hellman's in the east) and I buy the smallest possible jar. I think there is one that is 16oz. This is because I end up throwing the rest away. I don't even want it in my view. Everything about it grosses me out.
So, I use white albacore packed in water (Kirkland brand is THE best canned tuna) and enough of the (gag) mayo to make it wet-ish, but not too much. I also add green onions, celery seed, and s&p. That's it. Whole grain type bread, nice and fresh.
Sometimes I will add lettuce and sliced tomato.
I don't even know why I can eat this, and sometimes even crave it, because of the depth to which I abhor everything about mayonnaise. But, hey, nobody ever said I wasn't weird. ![]()

My only question is - Why do some people call it tuna-fish?
I mean, I get that it is tuna and tuna is a fish. But I never hear halibut fish or salmon fish. It's just tuna (or halibut or salmon, etc). Why tuna-fish?

I absolutely can't stand canned tuna, so I don't make anything with it.
