LOL! Not that I was seeking it out, as some do, but it was right there and I couldn't resist!

I love California and I think it is beautiful.  It's a great place to vacation and visit.

It's  just not practical for me to live there, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to visit there anytime soon.

Re: How do you feel about California ?

It seems most people, when referring to California, refer to LA, which is not the whole of California, have family in the area, but I wouldn't want to live in LA.

I have lived in the Northern area all of my life, and born in SF.  I live south of the City in an area where wildlife lives, fresh air,  wonderful old trees, just a wonderful place to live.

This state has everything one could want, beaches/ocean, sailing, snow, mountains, rivers,  lakes, micro climates, forests, coastal living, inland living, all with varying climates, but still the best weather of any state that I know.

I do agree on the expense of living here, taxes always going up, and now a monthly clean energy fee, this I am not happy about, as electricity/gas are expensive enough.

Lived in LA for 7 years during my wanderlust years (23), enjoyed it for the most part, but housing is very expensive.

I do Heart FL over CA!

What bugs me most about these threads that denigrate states in which posters here live -- and there was another one recently -- is that the people doing the denigrating have never even been to that state so their opinion counts for nothin'.

Yeh - "I've read that", "It says here that", "People say that", yadda yadda. So well-informed...not.

This reminds me of an interview that a local reporter did with a NASCAR fan in nearby Watkins Glen NY( another beautiful area ) and in a .Southern accent exclaimed that she never expected people to be so friendly. So many of us have these stupid preconceived notions about each other based geography. While she was speaking, I thought a lot of mean things about her, so I'm just as bad.

Re: How do you feel about California ?

I love Cali! I think I'm a Cali Girl at heart. In my younger days, I drove from NJ to Cali and saw much of the country in between. Then I drove the PCH from north to south - just beautiful. Stopped along the way at various places and fell in love.

When I met my DH, he had an office in NYC and SF - I thought I had gone to heaven - I was ready to move!! Alas, he did not want to and we stayed on the east coast.

Very cool!  I love that you got to see that much, driving across the country.

I've been on PCH everywhere from SD up to Medford, OR.    There is some serious beauty along the way!  Smiley Happy   I love the Pacific Ocean.

San Francisco and Monterey/Pacific Grove are two of my all-time favorite areas, having lived all over CA and travelling to many other parts of this country and other countries.

The more I hear about CA the more I know I would never enjoy visiting/living there!
