Re: How do you Clean a Brand-New Toothbrush?

I rinse off all foods, including packaged/frozen. Meat, poultry, etc. If not for sanitary reasons, often times the meat is placed on black plastic trays, which is touching the meat, etc. Could also be some type of cross contamination from the slicing devices, etc. Well, anyway, my mom always taught me to wash everything. My grandma did the same, 'way back when'. Doesn't take much time or energy to rinse items off before cooking.

I poison everything on it with a good squeeze of that poison called fluoride toothpaste. After a good rinse, I mean a very good rinse, it should be safe to use…well, maybe after just one more thorough rinse.

How do you wash your meat? If heat from cooking doesn't kill the bacteria, how would rinsing it with water kill them?

Yes, I was listening to a radio program in the middle of the night, while semi-sleeping........they did mention fluoride and the type we should be using. Calcium fluoride is ok, but not the other because it was or is made from aluminum waste? Didn't catch it all, but it was interesting to semi-learn about the origin of using it in toothpaste, and what changes, etc. eventually transpired since 1945 or so. Can't recall exactly, so I won't make any statements here.

Rinsing meat and poultry is not a good idea. There is a greater chance of cross-contamination. Properly cooking meat will kill any bacteria.

Re: How do you Clean a Brand-New Toothbrush?

I just soak meat in fresh water in another pan a couple of times, then rinse it off, and place it in the cooking pan, usually with a long prongs-fork. Really, it's just a habit, so no big deal.

WHY?????? That water isn't going to rid your meat of any hidden nasties.

My husband, the dentist, and I had a discussion this morning about rinsing new toothbrushes. When I said a poster said she washed hers with Ivory soap, he said someone is pulling your leg.

Re: How do you Clean a Brand-New Toothbrush?

He probably hasn't ever tasted a strong chemical taste from a new toothbrush, either! (lol....) Well, it really doesn't hurt anyone, whatever we do to our toothbrushes! Just a quick rinse-off is probably a good idea because of the plastic packaging, assembly processes, etc. Lots of manufacturing assembly belts, etc. maybe need dusting off, cleaning, etc. Never know what's roaming around on assembly belts during the middle of the night in those places/countries........ Doesn't hurt a another soul to wash off new toothbrushes, IMO. 'To each our own'. Smile
