Re: How Soon After Christmas...?

If someone has a business, I'm guessing they are ready to start making money the day after Christmas. If it's a friend or family member who you'd like a favor from, I'd wait until after the new year. Once the kids head back to school, normal life is back.

@gidgetgh

Depending on someone’s faith, Christmas just started on 12/25 and ends at Epiphany, Jan 6.

@bikerbabe - yes, I'm aware of that, but I have never seen a business or an individual person not be contacted at all for work during that entire time.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

My son helps me with certain things. Unless it's an emergency, I wouldn't ask him to do anything until after the New Year. He needs time to relax too.

How soon after Christmas is it ok to ask someone to do something? I know it depends on the request but when does 'real life' start again, per se? I don't want to interrupt their family time but would like to get something taken care of. Just wondering your general thoughts.

Hi @ThinkingOutLoud

I can understand why you're asking.  Is a thoughtful question.

I dont know what your variables are.  But I think it might depend on some variables, such as for instance:

What is it you're asking them to do.

What is your relationship with the person/s being asked

And any other number of other variables.

For instance:

-  Asking a neighbor to take you to the Hospital and/or take you/pick you up from the Emer Room - cause you're sick

                  vs

-  Asking a neighbor, who has a house full of Holiday guests/family,  to cut down a massive tree in your yard tomorrow afternoon

That's just an example sampling of outrageous exaggerations, just for examples sake, to demonstrate the variety of sample variables, only.

So, depends on specific variables, imho ...

Re: How Soon After Christmas...?

I don't understand the question.  The world does not stop for Christmas.  The next day almost everyone goes back to work with the exception of teachers and a few others.

I know people give time for people to grieve after losing someone, but why would they need extra time after Christmas?

Just like any other holiday, real life starts the next day.
