My sister's husband will talk to his brother for 2 to 3 hours a day, every day, on their landline. If I can't get through I try her cell which may or may not be on. She has been sick and I like to see how she is doing.
He and his brother live 20 minutes away from each other. My sister said all they do is talk politics and complain about stuff. I asked why he and the brother just don't go somewhere for lunch or my BIL go to his brothers house. He is single and lives alone. She said she has no idea.
I hate talking on the phone just to chitchat.
Can you do marathon phone sessions?

My BFF since age 9 who lives in another state and I talked on the phone this spring for over 8 hours straight. We laughed about it. Since then, it hasn't been unusual for us to talk 6 hours at a time. We've been able to talk hours on the phone since we were teeny boppers, and we can tell each other everything.

not very often but sometimes about an hour. I think sometimes people talk to someone driving or sometimes people watch a tv program together. I don't think that is that unusual.

I hate talking on the phone so I try to cut it short with everyone. I have given my SIL 30 minutes but usually 10 of that is trying to get her to say goodbye.

I am not a big phone talker. But one friend who lives far from me and I only have contact with by phone, we can talk for an hour or so. I get antsy towards the end of the call, though.
People I see regularly? 2 minutes.
I text a lot more, like a lot of us do.

depends on who it is

My son and I talk on the phone about an hour or an hour and a half almost every (week) day. That's how long it takes him to drive 22 miles out of Manhattan to home.
I'm not into texting for communication. If I'm not going to see someone (visit, dine, etc), we talk. Parents, siblings, friends.
I talk to my husband for a half hour to an hour during his lunch when he's working.

Once in awhile depending on who it is I can talk for an hour or so....but I can't imagne talking to the same person every day for 2-3 hours! That's crazy!! What do they have to say to each other?
I agree that going out for a cup of coffee or lunch (outdoors) would be a nice way to see each other in person.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 This is a great question. My mom and I would talk each night for a hour or so. She lived out of state but even if she did not I think we would still talk. She has passed away and I miss that time with her each night. I have a friend who I call every other day and we spend about a hour or two on the phone. She only lives 3 miles from me but we only see each other 3 or 4 times a year. Funny how relationships are.

If one chatty friend calls, it can be two hours. A person can't get a word in.
