I learned after living enough years that there's only one way to stop unwanted phone calls.
You die.

That may work for you but my dad passed in 1986 and we would occasionally receive calls for him up until the time we moved to another state in 2007. Didn't happen often but it did happen. We'd get junk mail addressed to him too.

I have a home home with Optimum and we signed up on NOMOROBOALLS(DOT)COM
and all the calls have stopped, a robo call will ring once and then disappear, it has been such a pleasure

If I don't Recognize the number I'll let it ring - sometimes it's a legitimate number that I don't recognize. With the advent of more and more new cell numbers, you don't know who is who.
Another suggestion is doing a reverse look up on whitepages.com. You usually an find out if the number is a scam or not. If it is a reported scam number, block it.
I definitely have used internet look-up when I wanted a clue as to whether a number was legit or canvassing/spamming. Often you can just enter the number in the search bar and get that info. It might not tell you exactly who is calling, but it will tell you that many others were called by that number, so...
A lot of people had taken the time to report the number as a scam and I've done the same. Feb-April were the worst because of tax season - lots of phony IRS and product pitches.
True. People will report, for example "This is Comcast" or the SPCA, or whatever, and then you know.
What would really annoy me is getting repeated, as in twice a night for two weeks straight, no lie - calls from a concert venue that wanted me to buy season tickets because I had bought *a* ticket previously. They left a message, *every* time. For two weeks. And this didn't give them a clue I was not interested? I picked up one night and gave them a large, angry earful. The calls stopped.

We get mail addressed to my mother, who passed away 3 years ago, despite returning everything with "Deceased" written across it. No one pays any attention, or cares, especially with spam.
While I was working, there were frequent, glaring errors in the lists of providers from Blue Cross, Aetna, etc. Those errors stayed on the lists for more than *10 years* at last count - and this *was* for something important. It's far more cost effective for a company not to make any corrections - in order to correct you have to pay people to vet the information. Not worth it to them, even Blue Cross - or maybe especially Blue Cross :-(

DH gave me the Digitone blocker for Christmas. Last month I had a problem that was not covered in the manual or the questions and answers. I tried to call them and number disconnected. After more research. Purchased the call blocker with the big red button: CPR V5000: more pricy. This did not have the adapter but plugs into the phone jack and the phone. It comes installed with multiple known telemarketing numbers. Since installed the number of calls reduced. So far, I have only manually blocked 11 calls, when the call came in: just push the block button. The blocked calls do not ring on the phone, with the other system, the phone would ring once and then block the call.

@SoX, I hope you are as happy with the phone as I am.
This is a link to the manual if you want to download it and check out the features in advance of receiving it. I think you will be surprised at what this phone can do and how easy it is to personalize.
