So let me just state, I am referring to round pizza that is cut into eight slices. I was watching a movie and someone said oh he must be an Easterner as he folds the pizza in half. I am from NYC and eat it that way, it got me to thinking is it regional, how you eat pizza? I have seen people eat it as is, folded in half, a fork and knife, and folding the tip inward. How do you eat pizza?

i do not fold and i am an easterner. i generally begin with the tip and work my way towards the crust. if the pizza is not crispy, but too floppy, then i use a knive and fork if available.

FOLD, let a little oil drip and eat.
It is more regional than many people realize. Growing up in NY we think that's just the way it's done. I'm living in the northern burbs of Chicago. They cut their thin crust into SQUARES. I remember when I first moved here and was calling in an order for a large thin crust and asked the guy on the other end of the phone how many slices in a large. He thought I was NUTS, but I didn't realize it would be cut in squares and not in pie slices. I had never seen it that way before I moved here..... except for Sicilian pizza!

I pick up a slice and eat it from my hand, from the pointed end to the crust. No folding! (NOLA)

I start out with a knife and a fork but use my hands when I get towards the crust. Less messy for me that way.

@Jordan2 If I'm out, I start with a knife and fork, cutting off the tip first. In my own kitchen, I most often fold the tip back and pick the piece up as finger food.
I don't know if that's regional, but I do know one of the foods DH and I found quite interesting in the 70's when we traversed the US several summers coast to coast was the pizzas. Very different from place to place. I wonder if that's still true 50 years later?

I have never folded it. I eat it with a fork then, when it gets smaller, pick it up and eat it.

I've always heard that the folding thing is a NYC thing. I couldn't know for sure, being that I live West Coast adjacent. I guess that's probably mostly from tv or movies. ![]()
I just pick up the piece at the wide part and start eating from the pointed part.
How ever anybody else eats it is fine with me, however.
No judgment.
Great! Now you have me wanting pizza. Thanks a lot! ![]()

We all know the only way to eat pizza is straight No folding-hey NY,
get a calzone lol!😆
Just kidding but I have only ever eaten it that way-not folded, no fork or knife. Maybe it is a regional thing.
