The saddest thing I've heard in relation to the glut of hot car deaths are the tips given. 'put your phone or laptop in the back seat. Something important that you're unlikely to forget'

?????!!!!!!!!!!  The kid isn't the important thing in the back seat?!!

Really?? That was someone's suggestion/answer?? Pathetic.

@ChynnaBlue

I don't think you "get it."

Responsibilty begins & ends w/the parents.  A "village" is NOT major corporations.

A "village" is comprised of concerned neighbors.

That is sad. Do car seats need to have alarms and flashing red lights to prevent this?

and then if the alarm fails, parents will sue the car companies or child seat makers for faulty alarms when they forget their child. I can see it now....

If corporations count as people to spend money on political ads, then they can darn well be people and villagers when it comes to this, too.

Unfortunately, I think it's a way for people to "do away' with their children and make it look like an accident. There are some real evil people out there.

How is it that it's common now and rare years ago? A person protects what they value, they don't forget to go to work or to buy their lottery ticket or to watch the Game. They forget their child or pet because they are thinking about something else, something that means more to them.

People make this assumption about a lot of things, but I haven't seen evidence to back this up. We hear about it more often now, but that's not the same as it actually happening more often. It's not.

It's the same with things like child kidnappings, which were perceived to have gone way up several years ago, but had actually fallen in number. The 24/7 news cycle just made it appear that way by shifting the focus.

In 2015, people thought that the number of officers being killed had gone way up, but the numbers were actually down.

Here's a page with the data, including a simple chart showing the numbers since 1998. http://noheatstroke.org/

ITA - we just hear about it more often now.  I wish statistics were kept prior to 1998.

Do you have any stats to back this up?

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

Since you still don't "get it,"  lets agree to disagree. Ok? Smiley Tongue
