@jubilant - you say you're not judging, but then you judge.
@gidgetgh I was just acknowledging what bothers me to see on the models more than anything...just as it bothers me to see it on myself. I thought I was just being honest and I can't accept my own self this way. I'm sorry if I offended you. I truely think obesity in the young is much more so today than in my day and is getting worse because we accept it. If it is a judgement, I am just as hard on myself.

You have every right to your feelings, but being honest is no longer wanted. We are meant to say what is proscribed aka lie. When I see those who would qualify as obese, I feel sympathetic, especially if they are teenagers.

@occasionalrain Yes, I feel sympathetic for those who qualify as obese, too. There is a woman much younger than me (that I love very much) and she is having so many problems due to her weight. I know how hard it is to maintain a normal weight so I empathize but I guess I would never see myself as "model material" and I'm not so sure that is a good thing. If my honesty on this subject is judging.....well, I can readily say.... I'm far from perfect.

She didn't look like model material. Stop being so woke!
Can you define what woke means? Not sleepy? Or behaving like a decent human being?

@occasionalrain wrote:If being labeled woke is a compliment, it's a left handed one. Individuals who are woke are controlling, inhibiting, and silencing of others. Those not wishing to offend, not wishing to be faulted, avoid unfamiliar situations and unfamiliar races. They avoid saying anything, not confident it will be acceptable to the woke.
@occasionalrain Thank you for explaining your thoughts. I had totally different ideas so now I don't know what's going on. Am looking forward to family visiting this summer and will now think only positive thoughts and ignore all the other topsy turvy stuff going on these days.

I, like many of us, grew up in a white neighborhood, attended all white schools. The only exposure I had to people unlike myself were the Arabs who owned the tobacco store I visited with my father on Saturdays. They fascinated me. I admired the way they could effortlessly switch between Arabic and perfect English. I loved the store's aromatic scents. I loved going there.
Then, I might have thought to compliment them, now I would be concerned they'd find it condescending. Now, I'd say nothing.

It IS a compliment ... only the ignorant would think otherwise.
So someone who disagrees with you is ignorant???? That's ignorant!!!
No, it just means that someone's definition of "woke" is probably inaccurate. These days it seems a lot of people use terms and don't really understand what they mean.
Just fyi, this is the most accurate definition I've seen:
Wokeness is just good manners, respect for others, and human empathy. It includes things like addressing people as they prefer to be addressed, good citizenship, caring about other people even if they are very different than or unconnected to ourselves, considering the consequences of our actions on other people, and basically not just plowing our way through life as rude and selfish.
