Re: Hedge Fund and ValueVision Shopping Network Settle Differences

Even male anchors get Botox and fake tans.

I'm much more concerned with the reduction in quality products.

When businesses are run for short-term profit only (and that's the nature of hedge funds), not only are employees squeezed - customers are too.

ShopNBC used to be known for quality products. They seem to be taking the cheap way out. I wonder how long the 3 Amigos will last?

I miss that host Charla too. I don't know where she went, but she was terrific. I didn't notice the network (all though we had it). My husband found it first. They had just switched over as ShopNBC. It seemed to be fine jewelry 24 hours a day, with occasional breaks for watches. Except for Pam's amazing lamb leather, it seemed to offer nothing else. Anyway he found it because he was looking for an omega (for me) as a anniversary gift. He got the huge 18K one. At the time it was under $400.00 and it was 42 grams. It seems so long ago now. They had good hosts and Sonia Bitton and her grade quality diamonds. What a shopping network! It was the first luxury network. The only thing really expensive there (at the time) was Sonia's 18K and diamond pieces. That was costly even then. The Ramsey's offered unusual gems. I remember seeing a Santa Maria Aquamarine for over $10,000. I shopped for all it's worth till the gold became too expensive, and Sonia's diamonds went through the roof. Those of you who didn't have it, missed the boat on great jewelry and leather goods. Now I guess they're paying for it.

Sonia's diamond flex rings were to die for. And the 24K gold line was amazing. And the ancient coin jewelry. Ahh those were the days.

I have one Sonia ring I bet nobody has. It a dangle ring with the letters L O V E cascading down at an angle, all in diamonds. Another great ring I have is a big charm dangle ring. I have a lock, key, anchor and heart dangling down. You don't see stuff like that anymore. The actual band part of the ring is thick chain, with a bar at the center. I have another 18K white gold charm bracelet with the letters A M O R E hanging. I think Value Vision dug themselves in to the ground offering that stuff. When NBC lend their name, they did better. But slowly dropped their gem and gold vendors. One by one.

Oh I agree they had superior gemstones and diamonds and as you watched you were educated about quality...then it became the watch network. I have sheets from years ago that were amazing quality as well. Very sad what has happened.

Re: Hedge Fund and ValueVision Shopping Network Settle Differences

NBC did not "lend" the name; ValueVision paid for the rights to use "NBC" to give them credibility. There were scores of consumer complaints.

Gold values went through the roof; that is why the Gold jewelry lines vanished. After a period of time the vendors were coaxed back with their "gold embraced" jewelry. The watches have always been a huge chunk of their programming.

All this happened under Keith R. Stewart's regime, he is being ousted by the Clinton Group. Stewart had been at Q before SHOP. His regime is responsible for the hosts who have left and the push for cosmetic procedures.

Don't fool yourself into thinking a hedge fund will be any kinder to employees.

They are investors - not retailers. Cutting costs and preparing for a sale is #1 with them.

LOL well maybe they'll get rid of the watches.

I really don't care what happens, I have never felt 100% comfortable ordering from them. I did get a few jewelry pieces I liked though never wear.

Here is one article kachina:

ARTICLE LINK to HOMESHOPPINGISTA. What Pamela McCoy has to say is disturbing to me. Pamela was a highly rated host at SNBC at one time.

Wow. If what Pamela says is true that's awful {#emotions_dlg.sad}

I'm guessing that the ShopHQ host Pamela refers to who left is Libby Floyd.

If you're right, I don't blame her for leaving.
