Simon will replace Howard Stern on AGT
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/22/simon-cowell-replacing-howard-stern-americas-got-talent
The former American Idol judge will replace Howard Stern for the summer reality competition’s upcoming 11th season.
Cowell, a creator of the show’s format, issued this statement: “I am really thrilled to be joining America’s Got Talent next season. What I love about this show is that it’s open to absolutely anyone. America has some fantastic talent just waiting to be discovered, and I would like that talent to come to our show, including any dogs who can sing!”

Oh wow, this is a big surprise to me . . . thanks for posting this straykatz.
What an interesting twist for AGT, that's for sure. Should be a fun season!

I know...it surprised me too. I knew Stern was leaving but was not expecting Simon to be his replacement.

I've missed seeing Simon on air, but I was really getting to like Stern as a judge on AGT. I wonder why Stern is leaving?

I just saw that on FB, would rather have had Stern stay. Simon is not very kind. Hopefully he changed since becoming a Father.

Why is Howard leaving?
I like the combination of judges now.

Did you watch Simon on X Factor...he was much more mellow than he was during his time on Idol.

_____________
I just found this quote from Howard Stern:
“I’m going through my own career evaluation right now,” Howard said on his Sirius radio show. “In all seriousness, I’ve told you, I’m just too f–king busy…something’s got to give… NBC’s already asked me what my intentions are for next year, whether or not I’d come back, I kind of have told them I think this is my last season. Not I think, this is my last season.”

Simon has been behind the scenes of AGT- his name is listed in the credits. I'm glad he'll be upfront now!
I think the Simon 'snark' is just a tv personailty. I saw a live audition of X Factor when it was in the US - the 1st season. This was pre-baby too .... he was so genuine and kind to the audience!
With Stern leaving I knew the show would probably no longer tape on the east coast- I'm glad I went to so many live tapings this past season. I was even at the finale! I read that Howard just plain 'tired' of his schedule- and might cut back from the radio show too. Maybe he's considering a semi retirement?

I think Simon will be an interesting addition to the panel. It appears Howard was done and I have to say I thought he did a great job but adding Simon to me is a brilliant move. He will bring the raw intelligence that he always did to the competion but will maybe add his own brand of snark.
