Re: Have you started your fireplace yet?

No, but I did smell wood burning when I was outside last night.

Re: Have you started your fireplace yet?

Yesterday- and I am in Southern California!

LOVE my fireplace and use it whenever I can- it rained for the first time in ages, so that was my excuse and i DID put a couple of those cinnamon scented pinecones in it too!

Re: Have you started your fireplace yet?

We have a gas log fireplace and since very little of our time is spent in our living room, which is the only fireplace, I can't remember the last year we turned it on. We haven't even turned on our whole home gas heat for 3 years now.

Re: Have you started your fireplace yet?

no not yet. we have a wood burning fireplace and that is the only thing about winter i look foward to! even thought the temps have been getting down to the low 30's the last few nights the days still were sunny and in the 60's and this week the afternoon temps go back into the low 70's so we won't be using it for a few more weeks. we usually have to have the air on for thanksgiving because it is so warm.

I forgot to ask but my friend put pinecone in her fireplace I think. She had me gather some up for her for that purpose but surely she does not put them in her fire?

You can use pine cones for kindling to start a wood fire.

Thank you I did not know that. Well, I gathered up all the good ones for her.........well maybe some more will fall.......

Re: Have you started your fireplace yet?

We changed ours over to gas logs and I love coming home from work and having a fire at the flip of a switch. The only bad thing is that the heat makes me fall asleep if I've had a long day. But I try to deal with that. heehee We've been enjoying ours for a month or so.

How I miss a fireplace. For so many years we always had one. I love the real, messy, crackling ones best. Since I've been living in apartments the last ten years, I haven't had one. One of my daughters still has one and I can enjoy it when I'm over there.
