Even retired people, need a vacation break. Don't ask me why, I just know, I'm looking forward to ours this year. I think you just need to break up the scenery now and then.
How about you?

Don't know if I've learned anything new, but I sure can forget stuff daily.
Enjoy your vacation @qualitygal!

I learned not to date an "Ikea man."
He is completely unassembled and has to be put together.![]()

Yes--am learning all about the types of carpeting, padding and how to measure. Looking at new carpet after 31 years with the old---so gross---stuff. And I am learning to take my time to research what I want first.

The day I stop learning new things or have the intellectual curiosity to learn, is the day I will lay down and die!

When we updated our home we decided NO carpeting and after 17 years have no regrets.

@qualitygal I learn something new every day, or at least I try to, I consider myself a seasoned baker/cook but yesterday a friend of mine told me how to cook corn on the cob in the microwave, who knew, I have always boiled it or grilled it, how could I not know this?
We cooked the corn last night and it was delicious, see it just goes to show you, no matter what age you are there is always something to learn!

Right before I retired, about 13 months, when co- workers would ask me if I was learning anything new. My then response: "I'm happy just remembering what I already know". This pertaining to getting skewed for the umpteenth time in my, almost the, 33 years with the company.
That company got 1 more scew in before I retired, which I then knew would come in, at most, 5 months. Thanks to a buyout, it came 3 months earlier.
Since I retired, knowing zip about computers, I learned self taught, starting with the DOS system. Not an expert by all means, but have built a couple of my own computers. I decided to get into learning about computers all because of a Nascar Simulation Floppy Disc. Love auto racing and that got me into computer technology.
Since then? Think I will write a book about things I have learned, and the things I cleaned out of my memory resources. Yesterday I learned from my wife how to mix Hummingbird attracting feed and the many colors of them.
Try to learn something new each day, while hoping to retain much of what I already know and learned in my many long life's experiences.
You asked and with me? Seldom a quick exit when someone opens a threads door like this one. Gotta tell a tale or 2 true ones. =^..^=

I learned a few months ago that, to quote Shakespeare, "Nothing is, but what is not." That's all I'm going to say.

I believe that if you have a curious mind you learn something every day, no matter your age or station in life. Little things you see and/or hear bring questions to your mind, and in seeking the answers something new is learned. At least that is how my mind works, and I surely hope it never changes.
