There is a tree cutter in my immediate future. Those things could kill somebody.
Been there done that. A dead sweet gum fell on my house once. And an acquaintance was killed by a falling limb a few years ago. People look at me sideways when I tell them I'm scared to death of trees, they can & will kill you.

Being out in nature every day gives me the opportunity to see and learn new things. The other day I came across a Painted Turtle laying eggs so I've been learning about that. Her eggs will hatch in 72-80 days. I’ve already marked my calendar for that week in Sept. I can only hope I'll be around at the right time.
One of my BFF's luvs, luvs, luvs turtles. Let us know about it. Maybe I can help my friend learn something new about turtles.

A few weeks ago I learned that a friend, someone I thought highly of who had it together, could turn into a raving out of control individual. I never saw that side to him, it was frightening and shocking at the same time. ![]()

I learned that the Declaration of Independence can cause great angst among those who have no clue.

I don't think you can go through even a day without learning something new...unless you're in a coma. It might not be how to cure cancer or create world peace but to live is to learn.

I love turtles too There’s too much info to post about this turtle so I'll only mention a few things about nesting. I also included a photo I took while she was working on her nest.
They may lay up to five clutches a year.
The female presses her throat against the ground looking for potential nesting sites.
She uses her hind feet to dig the nest. While digging, she may lubricate the area with bladder water to make the job easier. (You can see mud behind her in the photo where she’s been doing that.)

Today is National Umbrella Cover Day (which should never be confused with National Umbrella Day in February) and there is an umbrella cover museum in Portland, Maine.
