I lived in Delaware for many years and I have only witnessed impatient behavior amongst drivers. Moved to Pennsylvania. Yesterday, I witnessed something truly amazing. A Funeral Procession emerged from a side street with many, many vehicles behind it. Their lights were on and some had on their blinkers. I was at a Four Way Stop. I waited, along with at least fifteen other cars at the stop, just waiting. No one beeped their horns, no one inched forward attempting to snag a place in line and no one flicked their lights. We all waited. It must have been a very large Funeral because I lost count at about 40 cars. I was amazed at the politeness of the waiting people. And, quite impressed. Is this only in PA or is this elsewhere?

This is how we do it in the Midwest too. People are considerate of funeral processions.

No, it is standard protocol to wait politely and patiently for a funeral procession to pass. Anyone who doesn't wait or beeps their horn is an inconsiderate jerk. Typically a large funeral procession will have a motorcycle escort to ensure that the procession makes it through the intersections safely in the event someone is dumb enough to try and cut through.

In my experience people in Pa are generally much more friendly and kind than people in other places. I am in Western pa though and this area is famous for it's friendliness. Some of the people we know in Florida from other areas just amaze us with their extreme rudeness.

I haven't seen a funeral procession in a long time.
I find if it is short the people will be patient but if it is long people don't wait.
I have seen people turn their lights on pretending to be with the funeral!
Some people are kind but some are very disrespectful.

Here in Connecticut we do the same thing. Recently, I witnessed an elderly volunteer firefighter's funeral procession; the ladder trucks from our city and that of the Mohegan (Sun Casino) Tribe crossed their raised ladders across the entrance to the cemetery. A large American flag hung from the ladders. It was a fine tribute to someone who had contributed so much in his life.

This is the law, here; I thought it was the law everywhere. But, like the others above, I cannot remember the last time I saw a funeral procession.
