Have you ever rooted for the opponent?

Back on June 11, 1990, I was at a MLB game between the Oakland Athletics (in Oakland) and the Texas Rangers. Nolan Ryan was pitching for the visiting Rangers.

I was an avid Oakland A's fan at the time, and attending games often. As the game this day progressed, folks in the Coliseum began to realize that Ryan might be on his way to his 6th no-hitter. By the time the 7th inning rolled around, most of the 33,000+ people in the stadium were beginning to root for Ryan, and by the bottom of the ninth inning, everyone was standing and cheering for him. When he got the last out, the place went crazy with applause.

It was such a wonderful experience to see Ryan accomplish his record breaking (at that time) 6th no-hitter in person, and I doubt any A's fan could take anything away from him for having done it on our home field. It was pretty cool to be in the presence of greatness!
