Declawing a cat - your feelings please

A cat turned up on our back steps last week. I didn't even see it until our dog went nuts and was barking at it. It just sat there at the sliding glass door and didn't even move - the dog and her were nose to nose and it didn't even scare her. Any way, the cat won't go away. It sleeps on our front porch and I have given it milk and food after it was there for a few days. I did not have the heart to let it go hungry. I put the food down on the sidwalk away from the house, but it sleeps on our porch. So I don't know what to do about it. It seems like a house cat and it's so friendly and tame. My husband dislikes cats but he is even petting and being friendly to her.

I feel like I should at least have it spayed before it gets pregnant and then I will have a real mess on my hands. If I take care of that maybe hubby would let me keep it but in order to bring it into the house and get aclamated to the dog, should I have it declawed. My husband's other concern is the damage cats do with their claws and scratching everyting. I feel like that's wrong -- declawing that is. so I am asking all you cat lovers what I should do.

Help me please. I feel so bad for this cat and can't just ignore her but if I can keep her I want to do the right thing for her.
